A Consistently Disappointing Experience ā Consider Other Options
I rarely leave negative reviews, but after several poor experiences at this location, I feel compelled to share in the hopes of helping others make informed decisions.
On May 25, 2025, I visited the GameStop in Mebane, NC (Store #03650) after being directed there by the extremely helpful staff at the Durham (North Pointe Drive) location. I was looking for the GameStop Limited Edition of Test Drive Unlimited Solar, which was not available online or at other locations. The Mebane store had one last copy, but because it had already been opened, it could not be shipped.
When I arrived, I was told they couldnāt find the gameās original case or the steelbook that is supposed to come with the Limited Edition. Despite this, I was still expected to pay the full price. When I raised concerns about paying full price for an incomplete product, I was met with flippant, dismissive responsesāincluding one employee telling me it "wasn't a big deal." This was not only unprofessional but showed a complete disregard for what is clearly a key feature of the edition I was purchasing.
To make matters worse, this isn't the first time I've had a bad experience here.
*During the release of Super Mario RPG, I preordered the game at this store to get the exclusive collectible pin set. When I came to pick it up, I was told there were none left, and the employeeās response was literally just: āoh well.ā I canceled the order and bought the game elsewhere.
On another occasion, I picked up a used game clearly marked with a price sticker. At checkout, the clerk told me the sticker was āoutdatedā and that he āhadnāt gotten aroundā to updating it. When I asked to honor the displayed price, he began peeling the sticker off mid-conversation and refused to give me his name or contact info for a manager.
Final Thoughts:
If youāre looking for quality customer service and respectful treatment, I strongly encourage you to visit other GameStop locationsāor consider shopping online or with other retailers altogether. The staff at the Mebane store consistently fail to uphold even basic standards of professionalism, accountability, or customer care.
GameStop as a company needs to do better, but especially this location. Unless itās your absolute last resort, I recommend...

Stood in line for 20 minutes while he goofed off with another customer and when he finally stepped out of the way the employee allowed some other person to just cut in front of us. The second person had just walked in and immediately approached the counter while we were standing there which Iām sure to him felt like āoh Iāll be really quickā but after waiting for twenty or more the employee could have just checked us out so we could leave. Theyāve NEVER really had the best employees to the point that Iād rather drive to a different store and I live within two minutes of this one. If you can⦠go to another game stop if you canāt hope you free time a lot of patience and a willingness to put up with their terrible attitudes. Most of the time I try to laugh off the way these employees are but honestly enough is enough if itās one bad apple putting the others in a bad mood then replace them all cus at this point itās just a deterrent. Thereās a reason theyāve been closed down twice without any employees available.. avoid...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe guy working tonight lied to me on purpose in order to try and get a sale, which I find so very messed up and unacceptable; I went to get Premium Pass for Battlefield 1, and when I saw that there was tax on it when he rang it up, I asked him if it would cost the exact same, if there would be tax, if I bought it on the PS Store on my PS4 instead, and he told me that there would be tax on it either way. I asked him if he were 100% sure since I was sure he was wrong, and he told me that he definitely was sure. Luckily for me, I had to leave in a rush before I could purchase it, and now that I'm ordering it on my PS4, in the PS Store, I am seeing that I was correct and he was lying, and I saved $3.37 by not listening to the lying GameStop salesman. I can't stand GameStop anymore, but this stood out easily as my worst GameStop experience, this is just completely unacceptable; ripping people off on used games is one thing, but lying to customers to get a sale? That's just incredibly messed up!!! I will never shop at GameStop again, especially this location (don't trust the black guy with glasses, he'll lie through his teeth...
