Not a fan of Japanese food, I would often bypass all Japanese restaurants for the same reason, I didn’t like their food. One day, a friend and I went to a restaurant for lunch in Mebane, NC. Unfortunately, the food looked dried up from being warmed over from a previous time. We decided to go to another restaurant and drove around until we saw huge bright red letters showcasing the name “SAKURA GRILL,” followed by ‘Japanese Express’ under it in smaller black letters. We decided to take a brief peek. Although hesitant, the thin colorful dangling lights from the door and exotic style decorations on the inside of the restaurant, further piqued my curiosity. Upon entering, the fresh scented aroma of mixed vegetables, beautiful striking pictures and other decorative designs, bright shining tabletops and clean floors, a welcoming voice at the counter, and two men working hard in a uniquely sanitary kitchen; made me totally forget that I wasn’t a fan of this type of food. The amiable cashier waited patiently until we decided what we wanted and then paid for it. We took our seats and continued to observe the cultural designs.
The interesting restaurant décor and friendly chattering environment made for a comfortable wait for our food. Not long after, the cashier brought our food to the table. The food was just like I wanted it, fresh and hot - right off the grill. My first order from Sakura Grill was the Scallop and Shrimp served with mushrooms, broccoli, onions, zucchini, fried rice and the most delicious white sauce this side of the country! The thin vegetable spring roll completed my fine tasting healthy meal. In addition, I couldn’t believe the huge amount of delectable foods within the sturdy takeout food container. I ate a lot at Sakura and had enough food for the next day. What an amazing amount of food for such a low price! It was well-worth the wait. Before leaving, I grabbed a soft drink from the fountain and freshened up in the ladies’ room. To my liking, it looked sanitary and smelled nice. Just before leaving, the cashier and cook thanked us for coming and waved good-by. I was deeply impressed and glad we decided to give it a try. I’ve eaten from there many times since then and have gotten the same results – SUPERB!
Of all the many restaurants I’ve eaten, SAKURA GRILL – Japanese Express in Mebane, NC, is currently one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at, from the Coast and Piedmont regions of North...
Read moreWe went here today and each had a Poke Bowl. We also had a side of soba noodles and some fried dumplings. Everything was so delicious. The ingredients were really fresh and the dumplings were really crispy and nice. The portions were deceptively large (the take-out container didn't seem that big but once I started eating I realized how densely packed the food was. I could have probably been full on just my side of noodles) The only thing I regret is ordering so much because I am too full now, and I don't know how well the leftovers will reheat =] Really great food, and we will be going back again to try some of the other dishes maybe.
EDIT: We went back a day later because I think I'm addicted and I tried the chicken fried rice someone suggested in another review. The portion was GIGANTIC and it was really delicious. I also tried a new combination for my poke bowl. Both times we've gone here so far I have been more than satisfied with the food. I hope they continue to keep this level of food and service as their business grows because...
Read moreI ordered lemon pepper wings sweet chili wings a vegetable rice and side order of shrimp. They left the shrimp out. Mind you this order was made right before closing so as I arrived home and noticed it was a side order of onions I tried to call to find out they were closed. I have 6 kids and own 2 businesses, so of course the next day this wasn't a priority. The next time I happened to come to Walmart which was the following Monday I stopped by to let them know about the messed up order. The lady then questioned me as if I was lying because it wasn't a pressing matter and I didn't rush up there or keep my receipt! I could understand if I looked homeless or as if I might be trying to get free food but I drive a 80k car and have on $1k outfit SMH. I will never spend another dollar with them! Very disrespectful and non compassionate to a busy man that didn't harass them about a missing item. For $7-$8 you lost a customer that spends around $150 per...
