Jackson County Circuit Courts. — Local services in Medford

On June 8th Judge Barnack made judgement that was so out of conformity with Oregon law that the 5 attorneys I had review the case (each having decades of experience in Oregon family law) said they had never seen anything like it. The judge reduced my access to my two sons to a schedule of 2 hours a week supervised. There has never been one single incident of harm to them or the mother. Never a threat of violence. The mother has enormous wealth. She hired a firm from Portland and submitted over 10,000 pages of exhibits. She also had Joe Davis (leading candidate for the open seat on the court). No doubt the local good old boy card played well. Barnack was embarrassingly unprofessional and has no business wearing that robe. The behavior included berating me for behavior that previous judge Hoppe lauded me for. In fact the case Barnack ruled consisted almost identical with the case Hoppe ruled on in October 2023. Hoppe explained in his decision that respondent did even come close to making the case for what she was asking. On the same evidence Barnack ruled “yes” to her every request and a hard “no” to me. Here’s the kicker, I only wanted to be able to spend time with my boys, asked the court for help because she was restricting my access. I would like to describe the events I experienced. My brother had a court date Tuesday February 4 2025 at 8am. It started snowing on Monday. Weather forecast said heavy snow next 3 days. Next morning we checked website. No updates on the website. We called about 630am. No updates on phone message machine. We drove 1.5 hrs from GP to the court. We stood in line outside freezing. Only to find out court is closed. Next day (wednesday) we checked website and it said court opens at 10am. Again we drove 1.5 hrs to find out court is closed. My brother is disable on SSDI. I'm 65yrs. My brother is trying to be responsible and compliant to the court. I find the courts manner reckless. The website and phone line should be utilized to give enough notice before people drive hours to appear in court. Don't we have enough county workers who know how to update a website and a phone message machine? Who is responsible for deciding to close? If our court system is unable to make a snow day decision in a timely manner and is derelict to give timely notice to the public.. Judge Kochlacs is not a fair judge at all. I am a veteran doctor with a clean record and I feel discriminated against for being a non-white father. The other party lied, cheated, physically assaulted me, and connived against me with her family, and effectively manipulated this judge into doing their bidding. I held on to love and forgiveness as I tried to salvage my family when they held on to hate and greed. Let the record show that I never wanted this, and I will always love my kids, even if they were wrongfully taken away to another state against my will. But awarding my ex 2 years of spousal support (especially after I've already supported her for the past 1.5 years since she abandoned me and she continues to choose to not work as she lives with her parents) plus full custody and $20,000 I don't have was manipulation and discrimination, not justice. Also, allowing last-second made-up exhibits to be submitted the day of court without giving me any chance to refute the false claims should not be legal.
