If only every comic book shop was like this!!!
Had the great pleasure of visiting Rogue City Comics today while on a work trip to Medford. Conveniently located on a cool downtown street, the shop was....awesome.
First of all, it was so incredibly well organized! Unlike a lot of other comic shops, there was no clutter. In fact, everything was structured and logical; new arrivals on the wall to the right as you came in, a massive wall of TPB and graphic novels, and a ton (and I mean a TON) of back issue boxes clearly labeled with pull out shelves.
Second, there were some great valuable books displayed on the walls, close enough to get a sense for their quality but far enough away that there wasn't a grab and dash potential.
Third, back issues totaling over $50 get a 10% discount, and that went a long way for me as I got a gigantic stack of back issues (including finishing my full run of X-factor with about 9 books I've been looking for in the wild and haven't been able to find). In fact, there were multiple copies of the back issues I was looking for, priced based on quality, so (for example) I wanted to get a newer FF Vol. 1 issue that I hadn't read before and there was a copy for $6, one for $4 and one for $2.
Finally, the staff were super nice and welcoming. Not only did they welcome me in and give me an overview of the store, they also came running out to get my attention when they realized I had left a small stack of $2 Defenders off to the side of the counter and hadn't gotten them in my stack of books!
Honestly, the shop was clean, dynamic, well organized, easy to find what you were looking for, and with a great selection of new and back issues and a ton of graphic novels.
A lot of "big city" comic shops could take notes from Rogue City Comics - it felt like a dream comic shop to me.

Read moreSmall update, as I feel it a disservice to not explain my five stars, and compliment the fine service and environment this particular comic store provided.
To keep it simple and sweet: As a relatively uneducated person regarding comics, I decided to call this shop with a specific and particular set of questions.
I was treated with great respect and expediency even just over the phone, with them being able to answer all of my questions confidently and leave me as a customer feeling good. They were even kind enough to set the item aside, as we were unable to pick it up until the day after I called.
That was all before I ever stepped foot in the store.
Upon entering the deceivingly well sized, stocked, and very focused professional store setting, we were treated with respect once more, and expert service.
The entire transaction was but a few minutes, but we decided to stay and browse, and in conclusion that's probably the biggest compliment I can pay. Even after we were done, I still wanted to look around.
So basically, if you're looking for a real comic store, powered by actual people, with an impressive inventory and clean store arrangement, definitely give this business a look.
An aside: Despite most things these days costing both arms and both legs, their prices are actually very reasonable, and one of the few places I didn't feel like I was getting ripped off in someway.
If you're in the scene or market for comics and other common materials [graphic novels, some tabletop gaming stuff, etc.], I think you'll find something to suit your tastes and...
Read moreThese guys are awesome. The owners are good people that have genuine interest in what they sell and thier customers. The store is quite nice and well kept. The owners are always very helpful. They order, hold, and make sure i get what i came for. Their prices are very fair, and alot of the time, even cheaper than everywhere else. Its the only place i go to buy Magic the Gathering cards now. Ive been able to earnestly start my collection and im am more pleased with thier help and product than any other place ive shopped at for MTG. They have my business now, and as far as i can tell, always will.
Keep up the good work. You guys...
