Tracy's Cafe 803 S. Babcock St., Melbourne, FL 32901

Eight years. I have been doing this for eight years now, and I feel like I have been on a long crawl into a food abyss without any catharsis. It's like I've replaced Bill Murray in Groundhog Day. It seems like every review is from a sub-par eatery in this massive sea of below-average Brevard County food. However, today I saw The LIGHT!
Dispersing the darkness of mediocrity that engulfs the Space Coast restaurant scene like a lighthouse before the advent of GPS sits Tracy's Cafe on Babcock St. in Melbourne, FL. This Tracy's Cafe is completely unassociated with the unmitigated food disaster that is Tracy's Restaurant in Suntree. This tiny cafe nestled in a strip mall on Babcock St. is a Mother and Daughter run joint. Tracy is the daughter, Debi is the Mom and let me tell you, they know what they are doing. Everything is made to order and to that end, I ordered an egg salad lettuce wrap, a tuna salad lettuce wrap, a chicken salad wrap and a cranberry smoothie.
Snapping some pics of the place while my order was being prepared, I was taken in by the interior's open, warm, homey vibes. They have a veritable cornucopia of prepared food items you can grab and go, from frozen soup to freshly made bowls. Honestly, you can't go wrong, but I get ahead of myself. Grabbing my order as it came up, I took a few more pics and headed to Big Boy HQ to chow down...I mean, get to work.
Tracy's version of egg salad was first up on the Big Boy's fastidious palate. One bite in and I knew I had found a winner. This was so fresh that I could swear I heard it cluck before I took another bite. Hey, with one, it could have been a fluke. Uniformly cut, every piece fits together like a gastronomical jigsaw of deliciousness!
I forced myself to put the egg salad lettuce wrap down and turned my taste buds' attention to the tuna salad lettuce wrap. I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but the tuna tried to jump back into the ocean if the egg salad clucked. This was so fresh I could swear it was caught that morning. I'm sure it came out of some kind of food service packaging, but again, there are different levels to that slop and the ingredients found at Tracy's Cafe are top-shelf. I don't think they skimp on one thing here. Moving on to the Chicken Salad Wrap, this was also amazing. Just the right amount of seasoning so as not to bury the fresh fowl that is the star of this wrap. The flavors hit my palate like a complex symphony of ambrosia. This stuff is far too good to be called “Health Food,” no matter what Tracy and Debi try to tell you! The Cranberry smoothie was as exceptional as the rest of my order. It tasted so fresh that, if I didn't know better, I would swear they had a cranberry bog somewhere on the property. They don't. It's the wrong climate.
Tracy and Debi make everything to order with fresh ingredients, attention to detail and tons of love! As I said earlier, everything I tried was a hit and I am sure everything else is as well.
The Big Boy says, “This ain't quite a 5 Star rathskeller, but this needs to be on your list of must tries. Tell 'em the Big Boy sent ya (it's safe -- we parted on...
Read moreOMG, what a pleasant and refreshing surprise. I just stopped in for lunch today and purchased a Costa Rica rice, bean and chicken wrap and the best split pea soup I have ever had. I have never liked split pea soup, but Tracy and her mom whip up the best vegan split pea soup I have ever had. The wrap was also delicious. You have got to stop in and try this place. They have a soup of the day and my next visit is sure to be this Wednesday when they have their coconut curry soup! Friendly and personable service, and the restaurant is clean!
Update: The Coconut Curry Soup was absolutely amazing. It was well worth going out of my way to pick...
Read moreA delightful mother/daughter-owned spot with high-quality, delicious food! We stopped in for smoothies but will be back for a meal soon. There are fridges filled with pre-made food available to grab-and-go. Or you can order something from the counter. Everything was labelled with a list of its wholesome ingredients (this place is great for anyone with dietary restrictions) - absolutely no additives or processed foods; all clean, nutritious food. I was extremely impressed and they clearly take pride in the quality of their establishment (which they should! It is tough to find healthy food when eating out!). Come visit, you will not be...
