I am very sadden, confused , heartbroken because of how Ikea associates treated my family. When we arrived to the checkout, there were no associates around and had no other option but self-checkout. So we get in line to purchase our items. After a 1 minute two associates came to the front isle to specifically watch my sister, and treated her like she was criminal. It was quite obvious they were there for my family, because when we arrived to line 3 customers already checking out and there was no associate visibly around until we got to the register. I see 2 associate walk up so fast in our direction, and they had a male and female. They greeted all the other customers except for my sister, which was so rude, and then when we finished purchasing our items, they both disappeared (purposely created reasons to "leave"), and there were still other customers at the register. It was uncomfortable, degrading, to have someone "decide" that because they "feel" you look a certain way, they "believe" you might shoplift. This was very aggressive, hostile, to have someone do this to a customer. We have no control over what we look like or what gender or race were were born, and Ikea needs to create a better way to monitor customers without making them feel like they are criminals. I can't even begin to describe the feeling of someone treating you or should I say accusing you before you done anything, and actually you never did anything. We have a small family and are genuinely hard working women, and we try to do things in our life with integrity and honesty. I'd like to personally ask Ikea what made them think they had to have two and then three people watch my sister while she purchased her items. What was the cause for how you treated my sister? Please don't say "suspicious activity" I would like to know specifically what it was for us to be singled out. We literally just wanted to purchase our items , and I'd like to know how we can avoid this type of treatment in the future, because this can wear down on someone's anxiety, and self-esteem if they are treated this way. On another note, we wanted regular check out and not the self-checkout, but regular checkout was not even available, instead of having a male and female employee stand around intimidating us, they could have been at the register checking out customers. This is how you treated us....
Read moreDO NOT ORDER FROM IKEA DURING THE PANDEMIC IF THE MEMPHIS STORE IS GOING TO FULFILL YOUR ORDER!
I have had the single most frustrating customer service experience after ordering furniture from IKEA. I recently moved to a new state and had buy new bedroom furniture and I made the mistake of ordering from IKEA. I was super excited when my Hemnes dresser arrived, but an integral structural piece was broken.
It took at least ten calls to get through to customer service, the first representative my they would be replacing the necessary part and it would be fulfilled by the Memphis location. Over a week goes by and I still don't have as much as a shipping confirmation. I call again to be told its going out soon and should arrive at my doorstep "this weekend". Come Monday, I call again (takes 10 tries and a 20 minute wait to get through) and I'm told my order has been pushed to "priority", which means nothing apparently. On Wednesday I call again, customer service contacts the Memphis store and promises me my replacement part is going to be shipped later that day.
It's now Friday and I still have no shipping confirmation.
I understand that is is difficult to fulfill high volumes of orders while ensuring employee safety in facilities, and that delays are to be expected (I was cool with the 4 weeks it took to ship my dresser in the first place). What I do not understand is being lied to over and over by customer service and the spare parts employee at Memphis. I am living out of suitcases in a bedroom with a partially assembled dresser. IKEA keeps giving me the run around and has offered zero solutions to compensate for this ridiculous inconvenience. If I had known this would be the customer service I would receive, I never would have placed my first order through IKEA.
So, if the Memphis location is going to fulfill your order, DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM, because your broken part will never be replaced (no matter how many times they promise it's being shipped "later today"),...
Read moreProduct itself is fine, but Ikea's order/inventory management and customer service is horrible!
Originally purchased a full kitchen cabinet system and countertop for a laundry room remodel in the middle of May. Everything was available except one cabinet door, however at the time of purchase they stated it would be back in stock the following week and to call and order the missing cabinet door. (One major thing to note that was not explained at original time of purchase is that Ikea does not do any backorder system. If something isn't available, you can't buy it and have to keep calling them and then you can place the order once it is back in stock). Had everything installed fine minus the missing cabinet door. Called back when suggested to order the backordered door but now told it is out of stock with no expected eta and told to keep calling each Monday. Eventually it stated it was available for delivery, and we were able to place an order to have the missing door shipped, however it was mid-June at this point, and we have a laundry room with a missing door for a month now. The following day we got a notification stating it was out of stock and our order can't be filled and again provided no eta. 3 weeks later (July 2nd) we get an email stating they can't fill the order and just cancelled it (still pending the refund...). We eventually had to have a friend pickup a cabinet door from a store in Chicago and drive it down to us while they were in town visiting family.
Moral of the story don't buy anything from Ikea unless everything is in stock at the time of purchase. They don't ship from stores. If it says it is in stock at a different store, they won't help you. They don't transfer inventory between stores and will only ship deliveries from their distribution center. You will also waste hours of your life on hold with their customer service team. If it's out of stock bad luck and good luck finishing your...
