I called the establishment on Germantown Parkway today and spoke with a "Larry" who said he was the manager. My beef tips were tough, undercooked and contained more gristle than meat. The only thing on my plate that was edible was a side of greens and the corn I ordered was left off my plate. The Manager offered to replace my order, but driving back up there in rush hour traffic at the end of a long day is as unappealing as eating this food today. Instead of allowing me to talk and apologizing to me, he harped on me needing to bring a receipt because "his boss" would never allow him to refund an order without a receipt. I continued to try to get a word in edgewise to let him know that we had to throw the recipt away along with the bag because all of the so-called "gravy" spilled out of this half closed plate all into the bag and covered the receipt. When he did allow me to speak, I advised him not to sell any more beef tips until they are thoroughly cooked and to check on whoever's taking and bagging orders. Then, he commenced to say he didn't know what happened or where he was and gave more excuses instead of apologizing and trying to resolve the complaint favorably. He could have taken my name and number so I could get another meal at another time. However, he never gave me an option. He "assumed" I called for a refund. Just HORRIBLE customer service and HORRIBLE food today!!!
It put me in the mind of the poor customer service I received there on Easter Sunday this year in April when I had to go into the restaurant after receiving HORRIBLE service in drive through. I tried to explain that when I asked the lady for a moment to collect my thoughts to order $30 + worth of food, she became sullen and curt with me. Instead of apologizing for her rude and discourteous behavior, he spoke very sharply to me IN HER DEFENSE! He started talking company rules about how long they have to answer the drive thru and how long corporate allows them spend taking a drive-thru order. I tried to explain to him that it's against federal law to refuse a reasonable accommodation to people with disabilities and told him that if drive-thru could or would not comply with federal law, there should at least be a sign requiring all persons with disabilities to order inside. Then HE became belligerent, curt and dismissive with me too. Management at this restaurant needs sensitivity training badly and they also need to be made aware that every complaint is not a personal attack. Everybody isn't trying to "get over". Most people just want what the restaurant advertises and what their money pays for.
I have contacted corporate to find out their policy on their managers having poor customer service, leaving food off of orders and serving undercooked food along with their receipt and time limit for drive-thru order...
Read moreUPDATE: I was eating here regularly getting 4 plates at a time for my wife and I. I stopped eating there after an encounter with a VERY rude manager. I had ordered 4 plates and went in to pick them up. When I got there, the place wasn't busy at all. I walked up to the counter and this older black woman I assume was the manager asked if she could help me. I told her I ordered online. She turned her back to me to face the online orders. I thought she said something to me, but I wasn't sure since she had her back to me and I had a plexi shield in front of my face. So, I said "excuse me?" That's when she turned around and yelled' What's on the plates???" I told her what I had ordered. She picked up the 2 bags of food and threw them on the counter in front of me and walked away. No "thank you", no "come back and see us", no "thanks for tipping me in advance". Not sure what triggered her to react like this. I'm a white male in my late 50s and that's all she could know about me. This woman was WELL beyond the years needed to know how to behave in public and how to treat paying customers. This happened months ago and I haven't been there since. Her reaction was all I needed to know that I'll never eat at Abbay's again and contribute to her salary. This was also the day I stopped tipping for online orders.
Original: Left my office just driving to see if I could find something new for lunch. I saw Abbay's and decided to give it a try. I was very surprised and impressed. The food was very good, service was fast and the price was very reasonable. I had the fried fish, not the greatest I've ever had, but very good - better than the other fast food fish places. Greens and macaroni and cheese were fantastic. I will be definitely going...
Read moreToday 12/27/16 the food at this location was dry and bland! I ordered 2 Country fried steak meals 2 meat and 2 vegetables on 1 order and 1 meat and 2 vegetables on the other order. I don't live in this area but since I was in the area my husband and I decided to go to this location as we often go to the Abbays in Olive Branch, Ms in which has better tasting food. Anyway the so called manager with colored red hair was rude when I called there about the over cooked dried out country fried steak she was like would you like something else I said no and asked her why would the cooks serve dry meat she said so what do you want me to do., very bluntly. I told her nothing but give me my money back and she said ok and that I can come back at anytime to get my money back. I returned back hours later and as I was standing waiting on the cashier one of the customers that was dining in walked up to the counter with a piece of chicken on her plate and stated this chicken does not taste right. The manager came from the back grabbed the plate and said so what do you want and threw the chicken in the GARBAGE like it was!, and said do you want something else in a unapologetic way to the other customer. It was very ironic that someone was complaining as I was standing there about the quality and taste of the food. I think the manager need to work on her customer service skills, she didn't look happy and when she gave me my money back she did not count it back out to me or apologize for my inconvenience. I won't be returning to...
