Warhammer — Local services in Memphis

I've just gotten into the Warhammer 40k hobby recently, and found this place while looking for a few models to buy and paint. Not once since I first entered the store have I felt unwanted or dismissed for my "newbie" status.

The staff, David and Cam, have been great and very welcoming, letting me peruse my options and ask as many questions as I'd like. Both have been great sources of advice and giving perspective on where to start and how to not get overwhelmed.

While not the largest store, nor collection, it serves its purpose by giving a peaceful atmosphere to help keep you focused on the hobby. And if you're really hard up on a specific model/kit the store offers free shipping to the location. According to David, the delivery time is incredibly quick as the US main office is roughly 20-30 minutes south of the storefront.

If I had to give a single deduction from the store it'd be that it solely sells Games Workshop products. So no Army Painter or similar competitors, but then again it is a Games Workshop ran business so you should be aware of what you're walking into.

My nephews were turned away immediately upon entering the store because the employee said he was "about to head to lunch", but would be back in 30-45 mins (no signs on doors/online about lunch hours). Yet he was still currently helping a few other customers already in the store.. The audacity was astounding!!

This is a very special store with a very specific product and therefore a very limited customer base. From a business perspective, the growth potential is minimal. I feel sorry for whoever owns this store and thinks they'll be successful from it with lazy employees like that. A little word of advice from a business owner with 40+ years of experience: You work until the job is done, not when the clock says it's time to go. And you definitely do NOT turn away customers because you're hungry, ESPECIALLY when you are in such a niche market. What are you? 5??

I do not support bad business practices so needless to say we did not, and will never, return. Sad to say but the internet will beat out small businesses like these for many reasons and this is one of them! Convenience...

Wonderful location run by an outstanding individual! David is quite passionate about what he does and super friendly all around. The store is beautifully put together and stocked with all the newest figures, box sets, and necessary materials for building your armies. Not to mention the awesome “museum” in the back showcasing warhammer relics otherwise lost to time! I definitely recommend this store to anyone who loves the hobby, or is interested in getting into it.
