Unfortunately, this was a sad and horrible experience for me. After several visits to this dentist I wrote them a letter addressing my concerns but never received a response. Below are the issues I faced.
The first assistant who worked on my mouth was so incompetent that I found out she was fired when I had to return to get what she had done (and Dr. Rutledge oversaw) fixed. The temporary crown she put on was so high and wide that my gum turned purple and grayish from irritation, so they prescribed antibiotics in case it was infected. Also, when I returned they noticed that fluid started to build beneath my tooth. Dr. Johnson and her assistant put a new temporary crown on, which I thought would fix the pain and sensitivity issues I started having.
I returned again and was told that the first temp crown might have broken the filling I received during my first visit. Dr. Johnson filled the broken filling and she also filled a tooth on the opposite side of my mouth. Then I received my permanent crown. I had to go back after this visit because I noticed a new (perfectly round) hole in my tooth after the numbness wore off. I was so distraught and exhausted by all the visits that I didn't make a fuss when they fixed it. I just wanted my mouth to be done correctly.
I had to return yet again because I was still in a lot of pain and had sensitivity to sweets and liquids of all temperatures. Dr. Rutledge said that the permanent crown was too high, and it was causing my entire mouth to be inflamed. He sawed down the crown, and told me to give it a few days for everything to go back to normal. A few days later, my mouth was still very sensitive and when I called to let them know, they told me too sleep with Sensodyne tooth paste in my mouth and if it didn't work I would have to pay to get a root canal.
It is extremely important to note that I hadn’t experienced any pain from my teeth prior to these appointments, and I am sad to say that I am still in pain today. I cannot express how unfair and unrealistic it is for them to expect me to pay for a root canal when they caused the issues I am...
Read moreEDIT: So after requesting my records today, I see that for some unknown reason she also “removed bone” durning the hour long procedure that I was not aware of until I read it in my records. As I have already stated here there was no need to surgically remove my tooth at all. It was pretty much a whole tooth except the crack down the middle of it that would have been no problem for a male doctor to pull out. My jaw is still hurting very bad but my tooth that previously HAD NOTHING WRONG WITH IT IS IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN AND IS LOOSE FROM WHERE SHE KEPT PULLING AT IT ACCIDENTALLY OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF A LOT OF PAIN AND TORTURE IF YOU NEED AN EXTRACTION, AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE THAT HAS A MALE DOCTOR WHO CAN PULL IT. I will never be back here and please stay away if you have a terrible fear of dentist as I do myself because they will only prescribe you 2 10mg Valium which barely took the edge off of my nerves. I needed my tooth pulled. Instead of a male doctor I had a female who decided instead of pulling it out(because women are as strong as men to do so) she cut my tooth into pieces and pulled them out that way. The process took a hour during which I had to ask for more numbing shots 3 times. I have been home now for 2 hours and my feeling is coming back to my mouth and lucky me, now the tooth that was beside the tooth that was removed is killing me and it also feels like my gums are sliced from the drill she used to slice my tooth into pieces. I have never been in this much pain in my life and this is third tooth I had extracted so I know how it should feel!!!!! It SHOULD NOT HURT LIKE THIS AND HAD IT JUST BEEN PULLED OUT AND DONE IN 10 MINUTES INSTEAD OF SLICED UP FOR AN ENTIRE HOUR I WOULDNT BE IN THIS MYCH PAIN!!!! PLEASE GO TO A MALE DENTIST IF YOU NEED...
