Hi there I am the girlfriend of the user listed and I wanted to share today's experience.
Something told me to go to Plato's closet today and I did. I checked my email and sure enough, they were holding their $1 clearance sale. I shopped and found three items for a friend and seven items for myself. Overall I spent $10 and some tax for super cute items. Now, let's face it: We can walk into a store, get great items...but there has to be something more and that is customer service and excellent merchandising.
Merchandising: When you eat a meal, you eat with your eyes first. I'll take a hamburger on a plate with fries neatly laid out on the plate over a wrapped burger anytime. The same is true with clothing. When you walk in Plato's closet, the walls are adorned with carefully thought out outfits that make you say "Hey I can wear that." The outfits are on trend and thought provoking. There is also a neat sign displayed explaining that the items displayed are for sale and that an employee would be happy to get them down. That's awesome. Why? Because 9 out of 10 customers are too afraid to ruin that display or take that display apart. I merchandise myself where I work. I always tell customers that I put the good items out so they can be seen. So if that cute dress is coming off the display, guess what? You may have just helped a customer pick out a cute dress for a date or a wedding. You eat with your eyes. You buy with your eyes. You service people with creativity. Plato's closet efficiently does this and continues to do so.
Customer service: As I and other customers waited in line, we were professionally and kindly greeted and offered candy. As I first walked in before finding my items, I was greeted and the associate happily explained how the $1 sale works. My checkout was pleasant as the cashier smiled. And, while I was in line waiting ,the young man working patiently took my items when I found I'd accidentally got a few without the clearance stickers.
They encourage recycling. That flowery dress that just doesn't fit right may just fit another person right.
Customer service is one of the most underestimated jobs. In customer service, you work while the customers play. At East Lansing Plato's Closet you get serviced by employees who work hard and who care. They should be recognized for going above and beyond and doing so...
Read moreHeyo so this is my first time writing a review so fyi.. I live in Ovid and I have to drive about 30 or so minutes to your guys store so hereâs my review on selling stuff to you guys⊠Okay so I do love going to this Lansing location to buy and look around for clothes and shoes but my only problem is that you guys are so dang picky when it comes to shoes and it is very annoying and I get that but a couple weeks ago I brought in a whole laundry basket of shoes and you guys only bought 1 pair out of ALL of them when I know you guys couldâve bought and taken more. The guy said it was because they were âwornâ or whatever word but I know they werenât and I tried to bring in my best shoes and I know the shoes you guys sell arenât perfect either so itâs been a big irritation for me since then that you guys didnât buy at least a few more shoes from me when I knew they were the right size, good, clean, and wouldâve fit perfectly in your store! I get you canât take and buy everyoneâs shoes but damn only 1 pair like seriously??????? And I had to wait a whole hour 1/2 just for you guys to tell me you only bought 1 pair like wow. I mean I was selling popular brands of shoes like: Nike, Air Jordanâs, Vans, etc so I donât know why to this day you guys didnât take/buy more shoes. So I guess from now on I probably wonât sell shoes etc to you guys since you take forever to look through peopleâs stuff just to take 1 thing if anything. But I will continue to shop there because I honestly do love your guys shoes, clothes, and jewelry but I will not be wasting my time selling with you guys anymore. I think Iâll see if the Saginaw location will take my shoes so we will see how that goes but until then thatâs my review and I hate to rant and iâm normally not upset or annoyed like this at certain stores but this situation was kind of ridiculous and a waste of my time so fr beware everyone when you go and try to sell to them because they are very very very very very very very damn picky even when you bring in great, clean, and nice shoes/items for their store. And I only got $6 for the one pair they bought from me and yes I get you guys need to make profit too but the pair you guys bought from me were brand new Fila HighTop shoes and so fyi everyone if you want more money for your shoes then unfortunately...
Read moreI brought in 7 pairs of bootcut jeansâŠ.All Rock Revival and Miss Me jeans. All in great/perfect condition. While waiting in line, I looked around at the clothing on the racks and thought âIâm definitely going to get money for my jeans. I rarely saw name brand clothing and a lot of the clothing looked worn out, and dirty. I dropped my jeans off and came back to pick up my money only to find out that they would not take them because according to them, my jeans were not high in demand. I had over $700 worth of jeans and againâŠ. In great/perfect condition. They will take clothes that are clearly not brand name, dirty, or worn out. However, wonât take name brand bootcut jeans that are always in style. One pair of Rock Revival jeans costs almost $200 brand new. A lot of people cannot afford them. I thought that bringing my jeans inâŠ. Someone who was unable to afford them, would be able to afford something that was used yet, looked brand new, and was affordable. There arenât a lot of brand name clothing on the racks. Well, if you count Walmart clothing name brand. I find that the decision whether to buy the clothing or returning back to the customer is unfair. I know that the response to this rating will be something along the lines of an apology and try to convince people that read this rating that their decisions are fair and reasonable. They arenât, at all whatsoever. If it were me making the decisions whether to buy or return the clothing, I would be thrilled to have received these name brand jeans: I really wish that I was leaving a great review. Unfortunately, I cannot do that. Also, the kid that told me that my jeans are ânot in high demandâ spoke so loud, only to humiliate and embarrass me. I understand that itâs a resale clothing store however, speaking so loud so that everyone can hear that your clothes arenât âcool enoughâ (which they are) is so embarrassing and humiliating. Good luck to all of those who try to take their clothes there. Make sure that they are dirty, worn out, and not name brand. Iâm sure you will get a heck of a deal. Thank you for taking the time to read this. To the person that responds to this ratingâŠ. You cannot convince me that, that store made the...
