Honestly loved to shop here when we first relocated to Idaho and would visit often. Spent hundreds in store and donated items quite a few times. The service has deteriorated unfortunately over time. Your staff is now rude and unfriendly from the moment customers walk in. The ladies working your drop-off counter are especially curt and downright unprofessional when speaking to customers. I walked in today to drop off clothes for a sell and was not greeted, instead just told to put my clothes on the floor. I arrived and checked in at 1:12pm with 4 large bags of clothing containing everything from brand new swimsuits with tags, new hoodies and trendy jackets that just did not fit me upon purchase, dresses, blouses, and lots of fairly new mens t-shirts from Old Navy, JCPenney, and Kohl’s and two handfuls of mens dress shirts on hangers. I was told my drop-off would take 40 minutes to sort through because of the amount of clothing. Being that I am 7 months pregnant, I opted to wait in my car with my other little one that had fallen asleep on the drive to the store. At 1:34pm, 22 minutes later, I got a text that the store was unable to purchase anything of what I had brought in. This was after it took me a solid hour in the morning to pack the clothes nicely, folded, and sort through what was to be donated versus an what I would attempt to sell because of the excellent condition of the clothing. I walked in and the lady at the counter (purple gray hair with two braids in the front) was just stepping around the corner of counter and bluntly stated “She’ll help you” while pointing to her coworker before I could utter a word. So I turned to the other employee behind the counter with shorter yellow-orange hair, who was too busy laughing with another coworker behind the counter to notice me standing there. Seeing my visible annoyance, the first employee stepped back behind the counter, and curtly stated that they were passing on all of my items today. I could see my box with bags of clothing sitting behind the counter untouched, still all folded as I had brought them in. They had not even been touched. Feeling upset and utterly defeated, not wanting to haul all of the clothing back into my car on my own with my growing belly, I just opted to donate the mound of excellent clothing I had brought in. I learned a lesson today, and will be taking my business both selling and purchasing elsewhere. If I had the audacity to treat customers in the workplace the way the staff here treats their customers, I’m certain my employer would make swift of my departure from the company. The service was appalling and I’m not convinced that some of my items will not end up on the their for sale shelf anyways. Just wasted my time and effort instead of taking my clothes straight to the homes less shelter down the road from where we live or visiting Plato’s Closet, located just a bit further...
Read moreI’m sorry to have to write this review, but the fact of the matter is, earlier this evening I had, hands down, the worst retail experience of my life. From the moment I walked in there, the service was completely unprofessional. There were two girls chatting behind the counter with their backs turned. I had to cough to get their attention. I came in to sell 2.5 large boxes of lovely clothes and accessories (barely worn/some brand new H&M/Old Navy/Forever21/Target/etc). I did not expect them to accept everything or even most things, but there were AT MINIMUM 10 (out of 50) items that were just as good if not better than the things currently on the store racks. As you can guess, they took nothing. When I asked for a reason why nothing was accepted, the young black woman who helped me check out was snide and unfriendly and she simply stated “these styles are not what we want”. When I dropped it off, I was quoted a 40 to 50 minute wait. I waited for about 30 minutes when I decided to walk around. I found some great Nike leggings that I wanted to try on and so at around 60 minutes I went briefly to the dressing room to try them on. When I got out (5 minutes later) I walked to the counter to check on the status. Then I was told “we’ve been calling your name for the last 10 minutes” (a lie) “we’ve lost track of half your items” WTF!? Lucky for them, the box was miraculously found a few seconds later and I was quoted another 15 minutes to “finish going through it”. I stood 15 feet away from the counter and when she was done she called my name (I imagine in the same way as before) although, even though I was so close, I actually only heard her because I was looking directly at her, had I not been looking I wouldn’t have heard because she was extremely quiet. It’s irritating that nothing was taken, but it’s not the reason I feel the need to write this. The service was horrid and your staff need to be trained in kindness and professionalism. The young woman who I checked out with was abrasive and when I reacted to her negatively, it was obvious that she knew she overstepped. As a former employee of Plato’s Closet (over 5 years ago) I know exactly what is required in this kind of job and my experience in your store as well as the policies you have in place are awful and need to be rethought (such as prioritizing sellers who are in store). Luckily, I have no future need of this store as I’m moving to the east coast. My only hope is that you’ll implement some positive changes so that others aren’t...
Read moreI've been hearing a lot about this place from people, radio, etc. so I checked out their site and saw they are requesting "elite" items ("Coach, Michael Kors, Express, Anthropologie, J. Crew, Urban Outfitters") which I had, so I nicely hung everything for easy viewing and took them in.
When I arrived, the told me they wanted everything in bags and handed me a bin.
So, I went to my car in the heat/direct sun and took every item off the hanger (I had a lot) and laid each one nicely in the bin.
The two gals at the checkout counter watched me struggle with the bin and opening the door. Neither offered any help.
The 'checker', I believe her name was Dana, was not only very unfriendly, but took each item out looked at it for a millisecond then crumpled the "no's" in a ball then threw them in another bin. The "yesses" were treated much more kindly. I mean, it would have been so much easier for her to view them on a hanger and easier for me to take. I would have happily removed anything from a hanger they did wanted in order to them those two seconds. Instead, I had to fold everything while there to take home (which was about 90% of it - same for the other people who brought nice items in).
Customers are providing inventory to make the store money to pay her wages! If my employees did that, well, let's just say they would not be employed for much longer.
It's also important to note this is a 20 something store and quite funky - even though the site asks for "elite" items. If you have classy clothes, skip it, this is not the place for your items.
Cam was the other gal working and was very nice. While I'd like to give a higher rating for her service, I can't bring myself to do so after dealing with Dana and having personal belongings...
