So I have been involved with another business that is in this building for a bit now and finally went in to get some dinner.
First off the decor is typical of any Mexican restaurant. Not bad, perhaps a bit brighter than many. It is to be expected, and as type this, I don’t think that there is Mexican high dining.
The staff are polite and friendly. And in a very genuine way. I was greeted by one young lady immediately who was able to help me. The manager (And owner if I guess correctly) was there and you can tell that he has pride in his staff, in his food, and in general in his business.
I was able to place my order and it was taken back immediately to be prepared before I paid. When the server left the manager took a bit to chit chat with me before making the rounds.
My food was made fresh and although it took about 15 minutes to make, it is not to be confused with fast food by any means.
I ordered the fajitas, steak and chicken, and when it was done I had a typical plastic take out bag with a bag and two containers. The bottom container contained the retried beans, Mexican rice, shredded lettuce, guacamole, and sour cream. It would have had my tortillas if I had wanted any. The beans were standard fair, the rice was quite good. The styrofoam container held the meat and veggie mix. One thing that they added was carrots which I have never had. Pretty good with green peppers and onions. The meats had been seasoned as well and it was obvious. They did not have a strong taste of any particular seasoning, subtle.
The bag was full of freshly made tortilla chips and a cup of salsa. They were really good. A bit of salt, not much, and the salsa was flavorful. Yummy.
The only bad thing to me was the price to portion size. For just shy of $16, and this may be because of the pandemic and meat prices, they could have given me more beans and rice, especially since I did not get tortillas. But that said, Casa Mexico is definitely some of the best...
Read moreWe were a group of about 20 people set up in a horse shoe arrangement in a party room, so it was very easy for the manager and 1 waitress to serve and keep orders straight. They like a lot of restaurants automatically added 18% gratuity for large groups. The tables were set up with pitchers of water that never got checked for needing refilled, nor were there any condiments such as salt, pepper, Tabasco or other hot sauce choices. Asked waitress for salsa for our meal when she served us but had to go to kitchen area, after meal was nearly half done while waiting, to find someone to get some. Manager got us some and I said "I'll take it from here being I'm going back to my seat anyway" but he refused and carried it to table, me following like a lost dog. Oh, and we got about 2 tablespoons worth, to divide between the 2 of us. The person next to us asked for extra chips and salsa to go with his meal, but after asking twice, he finally got them when meal was nearly over. Staff did do a good job of keeping orders straight and getting them out in a timely manner. But my main issue was that while or after meals arrived, no one came around to ask if anything else was needed. As like a lot of Mexican restaurants, they tend to be very "Americanized" for the masses and pretty much bland, in my opinion. This 1 is no different. Even their salsa was more like diced tomatoes with a pinch of onions and zero heat. They didn't have a spicier one to offer. The portions were ample, and this may be OK for the masses, but it's not our...
Read moreI haven't been to Casa Mexico for over 25 years! How time flies. We used to frequent this local joint in High school. We grew up with the owner's kids. It's been fun watching us all grow up and see our families grow. My girlfriends wanted Mexican food so Casa Mexico was our pick.
When something isn't broken, why fix it? This place looks just like how it did when I first came. Everything is so bright, colorful and clean! A couple of us got there first so we got sat in a booth. Warm chips, bean dip and salsa was dropped off. The chips were warm! They were nice and crispy and when dipped in the bean dip, so good! The salsa was fresh and clean tasting. It was a little warm for me but I have a sensitive pallet. It didn't stop me though. The salsa was addicting.
I ordered the lunch flauta with picadillo today. The flauta came out fresh and hot! Covered in fresh lettuce, sour cream and guac. The meat was tender and flavorful. The sour cream was rich and the quac was creamy. It also came with a side of rice and beans. The perfect amount of food for lunch!
Carlos served us today. He is one of the best humans around! In and outside of work. It was nice seeing him today and having him take care of us. Carlos is guaranteed good service.
I highly recommend this family owned local joint. It makes me sad that it's been that long since I have been in. If you're looking for a good Mexican joint to hit up, Casa...
