On February 4th I purchased a pack of pork chops from Food City number 25 in Mesa Arizona. This evening I pulled the pack of pork chops out of the refrigerator to cook them and noticed there was a foul odor and they were also just color. When my husband attempted to bring them into the store for an exchange he was informed by Alex the store manager that he needed a to do the exchange. My husband came back to the car with the pack of meat and I decided to go into the store to find out if there was any other way they could assist. I approached Alex and asked about returning the product for one that was safe for consumption, and I also told him that I had thrown out the receipt. He then told me that he could pull the receipt with the last four of the card number as well as a total amount of the purchase order. I had forgotten my cell phone at home and asked if I could use a phone to call my card service provider. He directed me to a phone and said I could use it if it worked. Lo and behold, the phone did not dial out. So I drove home to retrieve my cell phone. I came back and waited for approximately an hour to be assisted. Alex finally allowed me to exchange the meat. However, I am 39 weeks pregnant and had my 19 month old toddler in tow. I feel like the excessive wait time was extremely and unprofessional, especially given my condition. I work full-time and full-time student and the events of tonight will likely cause me to be late in submitting a 6 page paper that is due for my class. In all my years as a Food City customer I have never encountered such inconsiderate and subpar customer service. My husband is a white male with tattoos and I believe this may have been part of the reason why he was denied the exchange entirely. I'm a Hispanic female and I couldn't help but feel that that may have played a part in the service that we received. I feel like my husband was racially profiled and that is unacceptable. We waited in that store for over an hour putting myself and my child and unborn child at risk of Contracting covid. This visit is the last I will make to this Food City. I have said this in the past due to their inability to keep things stocked and also due to the hot food items often being burnt or having a very unappetizing look to them, as if they have been sitting there for hours without being stirred or attended to. All of this is in stark contrast to the food city that is on Alma School, and also in Mesa. It is a hop skip and a jump away and definitely worth the drive even if it's a bit further out from this particular Food City. The customer service there is great, I wish this Food City would take notes on how they operate at the Alma...
Read moreWent to the food city here on 4/1/23 and it went exactly as I expected.. horrible experience !! I don’t ever shop at food city ever for not only the fact that they sell garbage there, but because of how those clowns run that store-not surprised. I spent half an hour looking for one item I went there for only to not find it! That half hour didn’t see not a single associate that could help me find the one item I needed. So I finally decide to go up too the front and get assistance from a cashier ( it was a big heavy lady with acne marks light skin Mexican) I politely asked where I could find what I needed as I had walked every single aisle a few times and she looked at me annoyed as if I was a huge inconvenience wondering if she was in a bad mood & replied with yeah should be out there somewhere I don’t know I just stood there like speechless at how dumb useless and rude her response was and I just had to leave with a substitute item instead! Thank you for the amazing experience there guys! Almost forgot to mention don’t go to the bakery department for assistance because the girl working there doesn’t even speak any English ?! I won’t be back! This place is a total joke. Time of...
Read moreUsually have great experiences, but remember that produce, though usually a good price, also needs to be used quickly. If it looks really good, it usually lasts longer. There are a handful of things I’ll go to Food City for over every other store. Produce prices are my main reason. Milk is not…$$ it is twice the price as Walmart. I strongly suggest signing up for “mi club” online to get some extra discounts for free! I come to food city more often because of it!
Be advised that the water refill station right outside is not owned by Food City, and it often chooses to not work. Very disappointed with them. Called the number on the machine, but it was no longer in service. I would get your water elsewhere. I’ve had too many experiences of losing my coins and can’t do...
