Beautiful park with cleverly placed ramadas and tree shaded areas. For runners, it offers two long stretches of grass, and two shorter stretches with steep and mild hills to traverse. 1 and a half laps equals a mile if you stick to the exercise stations.
Speaking of exercise stations, I appreciate these types of parks but the only issue is that a lot of the metal stations are in direct sunlight and thus very hot. Otherwise, its a nice variety of stretches, upper body and lower body exercises, and even ab and balance challenges. Id imagine this is a great primer for the Spartan race or Tough Mudder.
Despite being close to the I-60, it's not noisy. I have been here at varying times of the day and I have never seen anybody that made me feel uncomfortable...
Read moreNice medium to large size city park. Lacking a restroom and not having shade in a majority of the parks.Well maintained but not much to it. Some basic exercise stations around a small amount of the perimeter. In the catch basin are two soccer/Football posts. Few trees. A single picnic table. Almost no walking path unless you want to walk back and forth between the Northwest parking lot and north east tiny parking lot. Excellent sand playground and four small Ramadas. Ei There is a drinking fountain. Pleasant, safe area and little road noise on the two sides of the park. While GPS made the park difficult to get to it is simple. Driving on Southern Ave turn south onto Horn. Unlike many parks this one does not have neighbors who use a park like...
Read moreThe park is pretty compact. Starting from the small 15-20 car lot, you can either continue down the grassy slopes to the soccer field or you can walk down the short sidewalk to the playground. The soccer field is open air and nicely mowed. For exercise, I saw a diagonal bar that you can practice jumping across; this was right in front of the parking area (not much privacy)... and then across the soccer field, there was a situp bench. I also saw pullup bars beyond the playground. The playground itself has no shade. I also don't recall seeing any ramadas. The only picnic tables I saw were down in the...
