My neighbor asked me to take her here because she no longer has the ability to drive herself. When we arrived, my neighbor was visibly ill and the reception staff was oblivious saying the nurse would be out shortly. When she was received, the "nurse" did not introduce herself and I had to assist her to the scale, not the "nurse". After vitals, I was informed (NOT ASKED) that I would be staying to assist my neighbor with anything including helping her to the bathroom. Maybe my 78 year old female neighbor doesn't want this 54 year old male who is the same age as her son to assist her to the bathroom? I found out why soon after the need for me to stay. The nurse who didn't introduce herself was a medical assistant and it was "quitting time". When the actual nurse arrived, she did not introduce herself either. Making a concentrated effort to ignore me as much as possible. While my neighbor was receiving her 1 liter NSS, my neighbor was handed off to Marge, a kind and intuitive NURSE who did actually engage my neighbor and myself. I mention her by name because she was the only person in the entire clinic to give us her name. About 600cc's into my neighbor bag of NSS, I can only assume the manger came into the bay style room and believe me, I felt as uncomfortable as you looked when you try to ignore me. Again, absolute ZERO acknowledgement of a human being sitting next to the patient. Finally, what I can only assume was another nurse, happily stated that she was glad to get my neighbor "in today, because she (my neighbor) would have felt terrible if she had to wait until the next day". My neighbor has been suffering from orthostatic hypotension since Saturday. I suggested the ER on Saturday, however her doctor planned home health which Medicare would not pay for and my neighbor believes in Ironwood C&R Center. When we left, it appeared to me that Marge was the only person in the building. When I practiced, there was always 2 people in the area should the patient "crash". If there was anyone else in the building, I don't know. I have seen this lack of cultural awareness thousands of times in my 23 years as an ICU travel nurse and the person reading this review knows exactly what I am talking about. Normally, I am more understanding of the difficulties associated with patient care. However, if this is how a friend/family member feels after leaving your facility, I would have concern for patients that look like me when they are in your care. After hearing from you directly, I will decide if this should go further to AZDOH and/or JCAHO. Randy...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHave had the worst experience with this place! I've ended up having to take care of my 78 year old Aunt since October with metastatic bone cancer. She was hospitalized malnourished and dehydrated and came out of the hospital with very little mobility and wheelchair bound. So now living with myself and my family. Since October dealing with Ironwood has been a nightmare! We have had to change appointment and treatment days multiple times because they can not schedule her late enough in the day for me to get her there ( any day after 2! Not hard even tried scheduling 2 months out in advance which i wss told they couldn't do ) Even had the Dr tell us our last appointment that "since she is on state help now they can provide transportation. And that should help." When i reminded her that she is wheelchair bound and can't change her diaper and get herself ready! Response was " Well.....this should motivate you." Today was icing in the cake and straw that broke the camel's back! Have our computer generated appointment sheet stating her appointment today...get there and they have no record of it. Said we had an appointment on the 13th( nope never did ) that we didnt show to. I showed them a copy of our appointment sheet. So they investigated. Upon investigation said our appointment was on the 13th ( again...not what i have in black and white from them ) and that they tried to call us and cancel our appointment on the 13th because my aunt hadnt had a pet scan ( she hasnt in almost 2 years due to cost...told dr last appointment we will be looking into that now that she has access and wasnt ready to do so yet ) which doesnt change how they have been treating her anyway! Dr has always been in a hurry....spends little time with you....and almost talks down to you. Just dont bother with them...go somewhere else....we are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn May 22, 2025, I went to the Ironwood Cancer & Research Center on Arbor, Mesa, Az.for the first time. Although I was nervous about going that feeling disappeared the moment I stepped in through the front door. The front office staff greeted me with smiles, and caring, friendly voices. Already I know, this is a place where people go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable and cared for. Next, I met with Dr. Bansal, he was very professional, but, more importantly, he spoke in a calm, pleasant voice that potrayed to me he was a kind, caring person. I never felt like I was "just another patient", he took the time to explain to me everything about my case, he answered all my questions in words I could understand. Dr. Bansal then introduced me to Dr. Bhangoo, who would be the one to do my radiation treatments. Again, another kind, friendly face, and a doctor who took time to explain all about the radiation treatments I would be receiving. He never seemed hurried or impatient when I took up his time asking all the questions I had. In general, this center is filled with a group of people who surround you with their kindness and comfort. I could not have asked for a better place to help me through what is my first experience with the cancer I have. I would most definitely recommend this Ironwood Center to anyone in need of their services. It's hard enough to face a cancer diagnosis, but, when you have the compassion and kindness of the people I met that day, it makes the journey ahead much easier to accept. Thank all of you,...
