Edit: as time has gone on and this place has been open longer, it’s really not one of my favorite places anymore. My favorite thing to get has always been the carne asada burrito and the last 2 times I’ve gotten it, I’ve thrown up within eating a few bites. The first time I just thought I ended up with a stomach bug, this time I feel completely fine, first time eating there since I got sick, and immediately threw it up within 5 bites. Idk if it’s something they’re cooking has gone bad or not, idk. But I can’t hold their food down anymore and I’ve been eating at this place multiple times a month. The wait times have also just gotten longer and longer. I’ve sat in their drive thru, only car there, and waiting over 20 minutes for 2 burritos. Don’t go at night. Had a bunch of junkies walking around, walking up to my car, staring at me, while I wait 20 minutes for 2 burritos and hope I don’t get robbed. Today I also went to ask the woman working for more green salsa after she handed me my burrito and I couldn’t even get the whole question out before she shut the window on me and walked away. Prices have gone up to, no surprise, but like 3 more dollars for it to be inedible?
Original review a month after opening: Super delicious and a good price. I got 2 birria tacos with consome and side of rice. All of it was delicious. Some of the best ones I’ve had around here. They gave a full container of consome and didn’t skimp. And it was around $8-9 for the tacos and consome. They also put cucumber, onion, roasted chilis, radishes, and lemons on the side. I haven’t been anywhere that does that with their...
Read moreFinally have this place a shot since I drive by it often and noticed that they had finally opened. It seemed like it had been in the opening stage for quite some time. Never the less I figured I'd give it a go.. Ordered the El pastor burrito without beans or rice in it. So rather than putting my beans and rice on the side they didn't give me any. So because of that the burrito was about the size of a green burrito from del Taco. Witch they still charged me 13.78. to be honest it was decent pastor. I've been cooking myself for the 38 years so I know good food. But the main reason why I'm posting this review is because it's 3 am the next day and I have the worst case of food poisoning. Hope no one else experiences this pain. My guess is either old meat or didn't cook the pork long enough. Either way will not be returning here let alone reffing this...
Read moreWe went to Don Jose on our hunt for good Mexican food in the East Valley, and we were glad we did! It’s a small, unassuming place with counter service similar to fast food, but make no mistake - this is your typical fast food fare. In fact, it does take a little longer to get your order, but it is worth every extra second. The birria tacos are amazing! The birria pizza, equally delicious. Even the basic bean burrito is delicious (my mouth is watering as I write this!). Beyond the fantastic food though, is the incredible guest service at this restaurant. They are welcoming, kind, and patient. They make sure that you know you are truly appreciated as a customer, which honestly, so many establishments miss the mark on these days. The combo of service and quality of food definitely makes this a...
