I recently stopped by Game Nerdz, the best little trading card shop in town. I’ve been collecting Pokémon cards since I was a kid, but this place? It had something special. Tyler, the guy who works there, definitely added to the allure. I’d seen him around before, but today was different. He had this relaxed yet confident energy, like he knew exactly what was going on. I went in looking for some rare cards, but Tyler had other ideas. As I wandered down the aisles, he came over, giving me a sly smile. "Looking for something special?" he asked, his voice low, smooth. I nodded, my pulse quickening. "Yeah, I’m after some really rare ones." He leaned in closer, his body almost brushing mine. "I’ve got a few things in the back. But it’s not just about paying for them. I can give you a better deal... if you're willing to put in a little work." I blinked, taken aback. "What kind of work?" Tyler grinned, his eyes mischievous. "Help me organize the back room. I’ve got boxes and boxes of cards that need sorting, and I’m sure you’d enjoy the reward. Trust me, you won’t regret it." There was something about the way he said it—like there was a hidden meaning behind those words. I felt a shiver run down my spine, but I was too intrigued to back out. "Alright," I said, keeping my voice steady, even though I was anything but. "Let’s do it." As we moved into the back room, Tyler showed me the pile of cards that needed to be sorted. We worked side by side, the close proximity making my skin tingle. Every time I reached for a card, I could feel him just behind me, his presence so close it made me dizzy. The tension was electric, almost as if something was hanging just out of reach, waiting to happen. Tyler would glance at me from time to time, a glint in his eyes that made it hard to focus on anything else. He didn’t seem to mind getting close, either. His fingers brushed mine as we passed cards back and forth, and I couldn’t help but feel a little spark each time. After what felt like an eternity, we finally finished. Tyler stepped back, eyeing the now-organized pile of cards. "You did good," he said, his voice thick with something I couldn’t quite place. "Now, for your reward." He pulled out a binder with cards I had only ever dreamed of owning. "I told you I had something special. These," he said, tapping the binder, "are yours for the right price." The air between us was charged. It wasn’t just about the cards anymore. It was about that look, that spark, that something unspoken lingering between us. I wasn’t sure what would happen next, but I knew one thing for sure: I was coming back to Game Nerdz—and next time, I might just take Tyler up...
Read morePlace used to have video games so when I first went in I was expecting that but it seems they have transitioned out of it and are now more focused on Card games and Board games. Which for me is not bad. They have one of the best Prices when it comes to their product. Staff is helpful and will always be glad to help. They will even help you empty out your bank account by recommending their hobbies that they themselves are passionate about. I've been going here now for about 2-3 years and if I'm ever pre ordering I'm going here. The only thing preventing it from being a 5 is that they do mark up some prices if some product tend to be hyper popular, though it's not the stores fault, they're just doing as they're told but an example being that a friend and I pre ordered a box each of a card game, when it releases and we pick ours up, they raised the price and wanted my friend to pay the difference because they didn't know that the price for the product was raised. The TLDR is store is great. I've made good friends here because of this place.
7/28- went from 4 to 2 stars. While the shop is still great when it comes to product, it seems some of the staff have been layed off or released. 3 Of the staff members no longer work there and I assume something was up. Place no longer feels like it was. The staff brought the community together and interacted with the customers. However it makes me happy there's at least 1 of the staff members that stayed. He always somehow manages to convince me to...
Read moreEach time I have gone to this location, I have been disrespected, targeted, and discriminated against. I have not been able to browse/shop without being asked the following phrases: "what do you want?", "what can I get for you?", "Can I help you with anything?". I have received push back and arguments concerning certain items with staff telling me they don't sell certain items when those items are clearly on the in the store. Recently, I wasn't even allowed to wait in line for my purchased item. With Tyler, the main person that targets me each time I go there, opening a new register just to get me out. Also, I had my 20 dollar bill that I used to pay examined for a few minutes as if I were a criminal. I was told it was store policy they check every bill over 10 dollars. I didn't see anyone elses money being checked. I will not be going there ever again if I can help it. The place also smells bad. A lot of their products are inflated in price. I can get precons and sets for much cheaper elsewhere. These guys are cashiers with no passion for the great games they sell merchandise for. They can't even tell you what they sell or how much it it. One guy actually needed to use Google to figure out if they sold a product. I can only hope that their weak customer service and prejudice catch up to them, and they deservingly close down. I highly recommend to all that they go to Random Encounter Games where people are...
