I purchased a promo for unlimited classes for two weeks at SolidCore Brickell. The offer is impressive, and the studio looks great. However, the classes are quite challenging, and I noticed a lack of personalized attention from the staff.
From my first visit, no one asked about my prior experience, showed me how the machines work, or explained that the handles should be adjusted to my height (I’m 5’11”). There was also no guidance on the correct techniques for certain exercises, such as crunches or extensions. I found myself watching others for cues and was confused about why the same move had two different names.
It wasn’t until my fourth or fifth class that I received help from an instructor who became my favorite. I attended only her classes from the middle of the first week until the end of the second week.
Overall, the staff isn’t very friendly. Only one person consistently greeted me with a smile when I arrived, and nearly no one said goodbye or wished me well when I left. Some instructors seemed disengaged, with expressions suggesting they were having a bad day. This is surprising because the class environment should feel safe and welcoming, and many people are likely seeking a sense of community.
The workouts themselves are excellent and intense, but I believe first-time students need clearer instructions to achieve the best results. It might be helpful to suggest that students arrive 15 minutes before class for an orientation with the instructor. On one occasion, an instructor asked my name twice within two minutes but then called me by a different name for the rest of the class, which was frustrating.
I have mixed feelings about the studio. While I see its potential and found a favorite instructor, the overall vibe and lack of attentiveness from the staff make me question whether I want to continue attending or explore...
Read moreI’ve been going to Solidcore a few times a week for the past 6 months and recently transferred to this location. The coaches are great, but I can’t get past how close together the machines are; it really hinders getting a good workout and is also a huge safety hazard. They should consider removing 2-3 machines to allow for more space and a safer environment. I’ve been to 3 other studios, and they all have enough space for you to walk between the machines, which allows for fast transitions and prevents you from tripping over equipment and bumping into your neighbors. It makes certain workouts, especially squats, really uncomfortable. This negatively impacts your workout because you can’t bend down far enough, either because you don’t want your butt touching the person behind you or you don’t want to put your face directly into the person’s butt in front of you. The coaches can’t even adjust your form if you’re on the carriage because they literally can’t get to you. It really seems like whoever organized the space cares more about maximizing profits by stuffing 16 people in a small room than they do about the actual workout. I feel like I have to either go to a Solidcore studio that’s farther from me just to get a good workout or switch to a different...
Read moreUnfortunately, in this studio the reformers are less than a foot apart. Solid core has always been my number one choice and was very excited that they opened in Brickell, but don’t waste your time or money. They are so close that you may get slapped with your neighbors black cable, injured if you try and walk in between them, heavily breathed on by your neighbor, and/ or painfully watch one of your neighbors walking back and forth of the reformer bumping into everything- to name a few scenarios. I complained and was told that the new studios all have reformers this close together and you will need to ride on the reformer from each ends. I understand running a business and maximizing profit but not at the safety of the consumer. Plus it’s still expensive and not worth being uncomfortable. There are other options in brickell that have plenty of room and you won’t be compromising your comfort and safety. I also was told by employees of the studio that many people complained but that there wouldn’t be a change. Hopefully there will be because I do love the coaches...
