I decided to book a reservation here for my birthday because I had heard so many great things, but my experience was very disappointing. I made a reservation for 8:30pm, but my party and I arrived 15-20 minutes late due to overwhelming traffic in the area. I called ahead of time to let the restaurant know and the hostess said that I would most likely have to wait a little bit after arriving, which I understood. When I got there, I was almost immediately turned off. This place was PACKED. There were so many people standing around the entrance, all packed in like sardines. It almost looked like a club. Once I got to the front and checked in, the hostess (who was very nice) told me to stand by the bar and they would come get me once the table was ready, which was surprising to me because there were SO MANY people standing around waiting. After about 15 minutes, I went back to ask if my table would be ready soon and was approached by the security guard. He was very pleasant in trying to explain to me about the process of waiting, but the second hostess was extremely rude. When I asked her if there was a timeframe she could give me, she very rudely said “ there is no timeframe”. I was amazed because I had made a reservation. I expected to wait because I had been late, but her attitude and tone were very uncalled for. I had to hold my tongue because it was a birthday celebration and I did not want my night to be ruined. Once I told her my name, she said that my ticket was there and someone would be with me in 5 minutes. 5 minutes ended up being another 15 minutes. When we were finally called, the walk to our table was ridiculous. Not only did we have to walk all the way outside and around the restaurant, but we had to walk up two sets of stairs to get to the smallest table outside on the roof. I was EXTREMELY disappointed when I saw this. I understand that a lot of restaurants don’t necessarily go the extra mile for birthdays, but this was way below my expectations. We were seated in the dingiest high chairs that were very narrow and very uncomfortable for myself and especially for the two thicker women who were with me. I am not a person who likes to be seated outside and it was no different here. It was sooo humid and I had to fan myself several times throughout the night. Even with this, my guests and I decided to make the best of the experience because it was still a celebration and we found enjoyment in three things (1) each others company (2) our server, Gianni, who was very pleasant and attentive, as well as the gentleman who assisted him and (3) the food. I cannot deny that the food was delicious. All together, we ordered the beef dumplings, Chinese ribs, Korean fried chicken, spicy steak, king crab lo mein, veggie fried rice, five Miami coladas as our drinks and one cheesecake for dessert. There were 3 in our group and the bill came up to $465, which included an 18% gratuity fee. I also tipped Gianni $40 and paid $20 for valet plus tip. Gianni absolutely deserved his tip, but I expected a better experience overall for the amount that this place charges. I go to a different restaurant every year for my birthday and Komodo was the most lackluster experience I’ve ever had. Needless to say, I will not be going back unless invited by...

Seldom times you hear my wife not find something wrong with a restaurant and surprisingly enough, this was one of those, huh. Well, I have to agree with her all the way because everything we had tonight was super delicious, from apps to dessert. Walked in at 8pm on a Sunday evening and were seated right away in a very cozy, dimmed, romantic corner away from all the craziness. We even loved the music playing on the speakers since we got there till we left but all that is irrelevant if the food is not good. We started with two amazing cocktails, those been the Sake my Edamame, which Wifey absolutely loved and I had the Komodo Old Pal made with bourbon. My wife usually asks for a drink and either leave half of it or not drink at all because something didn't taste right but in this case she even asked for another one, check. My Komodo Old Pal was the perfect beginning to an amazing evening with the missus. Apps: we started with the lobster dynamite which is a popular one here and I went for the codfish dumplings. The lobster dynamite is one of those things you have to try at least once: crunchy hash browns topped with lobsters meat is the perfect combination of textures. Now let's talk about these codfish dumplings: recommend by our waiter, I'd have to say that these are the most delicious dumplings I have ever tasted, period. The blood orange gives it that perfect balance of salty and sweet plus that crunchiness on the outside makes it perfection. Wifey is not much of a seafood fan and she loved both of these apps, check. Entrees: she loves tuna and sushi so the dragon roll was her choice for entree while I was in the mood for beef so I went for Szechuan beef. She thought the dragon roll was ok but the tuna was really fresh but I found my Szechuan beef to be delicious. Cooked medium well, it was really tender and kinda melted in my mouth with the right amount of that sauce. The beef was amazing but what can I say about these string potatoes on the side...OMG. My wife tried them and almost didn't let me finish my meal lol. These potatoes are crunchy, packed with flavor and topped with some type of mayo I believe. My better half said that she'd order a side of those things and nothing else. Dessert: Komodo has an incredible dessert menu with great options that make it hard to choose but we had one specific dessert in mind... Cloud Nine. This dessert does not only come with one of the best presentations ever but it's just too delicious. The passion fruit ice cream or mousse with the chocolate crumbs and that chocolate mousse is one perfect blend of textures and it a makes sense when it hits your tasted buds. Service: we can say that our waiter was attentive and helpful but the rest of the staff was not nice at all. The waitress that brought the drinks looked irritated and annoyed with people, like she hated her job. The hostess at the entrance was really rude, when we walked in she was busy doing god knows what. So other than our waiter, the rest of the staff are not the nicest and that's why I'm not giving them the 5th star,...
