I've dealt with stress and anxiety for as long as I can remember. Lately, life just seems like it's throwing the punches too fast for me to handle.
After consulting Dr. Internet, I decided that acupuncture might be an approach that was worth trying. Coral Gables Acupuncture seemed to be the best and closest to me. Free consultation--can't hurt, might help.
As soon as I walked into the office, I felt like I had made a good choice. There's spa/relaxation music and nature sounds playing, and there's water or hot tea. The staff--I've met about five office staff--are all very warm. They act like they are there for you, as opposed to acting like you are interrupting their work. It feels and looks like a doctor's office, but less clinical and cold.
I met Dr. Chasens and we spoke for about an hour. I felt comfortable enough with him to ramble on about the mix of stress/anxiety/digestive problems that I was sick of having. He listened, he looked at my tongue, and he said that acupuncture, along with proper diet, sleep, exercise, should be very effective (I'm just saying, it's not a magic cure--you have to hold up your end.)
After the first session, I felt like I had been buoyed up--skipping over the ocean like a stone, as the song goes. After six sessions, I feel effing great. I don't dwell on things, like something that I said to somebody that didn't come out right, or the flat tire I got the day before that added an unexpected delay and expense to my day.
I'm writing such a long post because, if, like me, your cup runneth over with stress/anxiety/panic, you should stop worrying about it and try something totally different. People will laugh at you-- my mother did. People will get upset with you for no real defined reason-- my husband was...but not anymore! Now that he sees how much better I feel, he's super supportive.
I'm so glad that I took the chance and invested in...
Read moreOn the basis of all these other 5 star reviews I have visited this place 3 times and have been so disappointed and upset. My first appointment with Dr Blake was ok, he seemed nice and took his time with me to understand my issues with my neck and back. He told me to come again 2 days later so I did, assuming I’d be seeing him again but was told that he only works Mondays so had to see another doctor and start all over as apparently there were no notes on my last appointment. I was super annoyed by this but decided to come back again and see Dr Blake and he again spent a long time with me apologizing that no one told me my last appointment would not be with him and for the office woman for loosing my notes. I was advise to come in again and see a lady, I believe Dr Li or Kim. She was very abrupt from the beginning, barely asked me anything about my problems or concerns and then lay me in my front (all my other sessions were on my back) and put needles all over me. I told I was very hyper sensitive to the needles in the past so not to put them too far in or leave me for too long (I also had to get back to nurse my baby which I told her). She then walked out of the room and left me for 45 minutes without checking in once and the only reason she then came in was because by this time the needles were so painful I was banging on the walls and screaming out for a good 15 minutes before anyone came. When I complained to her she simply said “sorry I was with another patient” and “it’s in the past now what do you expect me to do about it”. I showed her that my neck was so bruised and bleeding from the needle and she said I had injured it because I was stressed out and moved. I am so beyond angry about this traumatic experience and how badly it was managed I wouldn’t advise anyone to...
Read moreDr. Chasens, the other physicians and the staff are amazing, efficient and get the job done!! I have suffered from epilepsy since I was 13 years old and I had a very nasty car accident about 4 years ago. Not only did the accident make the epilepsy worst, but I would get horribly painful spasms in my back all the time. It didn't matter if I was standing, sitting or laying down. I would wake up in the mornings and the headaches were unbearable. Unfortunately, I didn't get the medical attention I needed so my body "healed" the best way it knew how, but I will still in constant pain. I tried pills, creams, and heating pads but nothing worked. The sciatica in the middle of my back was so very, very, very painful. This situation was affecting not only, my "having fun" in relationships but in my everyday life and worst of all my job. I was willing to try ANYTHING. I will be totally and completely honest, at first I was a bit skeptic but my opinion quickly changed. The color therapy is most relaxing. The experience leaves you energized and it gives you a whole different outlook on life. A good massage goes a long way and the acupuncture works wonders. Not only to relieve pain but leaving some stress behind does a body good. If done right, after a couple of sessions, you'll feel right as rain. The herbal medication prescribed, is a lot healthier for your mind and body than taking medications that upset your stomach and affect other parts of the body. Even though there is an ache here and there, the sessions were well worth it. I feel nowhere near as I did when I first started my sessions. As a matter of fact, I feel so much better. All in all, my experience at Coral Gables Acupuncture has been one of the best. Thank you to the staff, Dr. Chasens and to...
