Where Virgin Voyages Completely Fell Short Unfortunately, the dining experience was a complete disaster, riddled with inconsistencies, delays, and unacceptable food quality issues. Almost every restaurant I visited had problems, leaving me with a lingering sense of frustration rather than satisfaction.
Razzle Dazzle – Cold Food & Kitchen Incompetence Brunch at Razzle Dazzle started off on the wrong foot. My chicken arrived cold, and then I had to wait an excessive amount of time for my waffles. When they finally arrived, they were rock hard—so bad that my server even admitted something was wrong. While I appreciated the service at this restaurant, the kitchen itself was an absolute joke. I returned for dinner, thinking maybe it was just a one-time issue, but once again, my food was subpar. The okra and tomatoes were hard and cold, as if they had been sitting out for hours waiting for the next unfortunate guest to claim them. A host came out to apologize, but why was a host handling this? Where was the chef? Where was a manager? There was no real accountability for the quality of the food being served.
The Wake – A Complete Disappointment I expected The Wake to be a more refined dining experience, but the moment I sat down, I noticed tattered, misaligned chairs with crumbs crusted onto the seat—an immediate red flag for a restaurant that’s supposed to be one of the ship’s finer options.
Dinner was an even bigger letdown. I ordered lamb chops well-done—a simple request that any competent kitchen should be able to handle. What arrived at my table was a bloody, undercooked mess. When I informed my server, she casually told me the kitchen was closing—as if that excused serving me something completely different from what I ordered. I was left with a plate of raw lamb chops I couldn’t eat.
Deck 16 – The Most Insulting Service Yet One of the most shocking displays of poor service happened at Deck 16. I approached the bar and asked the bartender about drink options. After placing my order for two drinks, I stood there completely ignored as the bartender turned to another worker and began filling up containers of liquid, acting as if I weren’t even there. There was no one else in line—just me standing there, watching him do his own thing instead of making my drinks. After waiting and eventually walking away, he never even acknowledged me.
At that moment, I decided I was done ordering drinks on this cruise. If this is how guests are treated when they’re trying to spend money, I can only imagine how service must be in other areas.
Housekeeping – A Repeated Struggle Another area where the service completely fell apart was housekeeping. On multiple occasions, my housekeeping requests were ignored or severely delayed. One day, I had to request service three separate times before anyone actually showed up. This type of inconsistency and lack of attentiveness is shocking for a cruise line that claims to offer a premium experience.
Final Thoughts – Discrimination or Just Poor Service? At some point, after so many dismissive and inattentive encounters, I started to wonder—was this just incompetence, or was my guest and I being treated differently? I would hate to assume the worst, but the pattern of poor treatment exclusively toward us was hard to ignore.
Would I Sail With Virgin Voyages Again? I was looking forward to trying this cruise as a test run before booking future sailings, but after this experience, I don’t think I would return. There were some things I enjoyed—the ship size, the lack of overcrowding, the adults-only concept—but service is everything, and Virgin Voyages failed miserably in that department.
Would I recommend this cruise? Only if you go in with lowered...
Read moreI sail on VV Valiant Lady May 2025 for a friend's 50th birthday celebration. It was my 1st time cruising with this cruise line out of the 18 other cruise lines I sailed with. Read moreAhhh yes, Valiant Lady—the real MVP of the high seas! No worries, boo. Let’s rewind the tape, pour a fresh mimosa, and set the record straight with that name in bold, sparkling lights. I'm about to rework that whole review with Valiant Lady in all her glory. And oh yes... she’s about to feel the love.
A Voyage to Remember Aboard the Valiant Lady — With Just One Wish
From the moment I stepped aboard the Valiant Lady, I knew I wasn’t just on a cruise—I was stepping into a full-on floating lifestyle fantasy. She’s bold, she's bougie, and she knows how to treat a grown woman right. From her sultry curves to her unapologetically adult-only swagger, Valiant Lady isn’t just a ship—she’s a whole mood.
✨ The spa? Divine. I left that place floating higher than sea level. ✨ The nightclub? Let’s just say, I found my groove and left my stress somewhere out in the Atlantic. ✨ Scarlet Night? Iconic. Red, wild, and unforgettable—like if Beyoncé and a bottle of wine had a baby.
And while I missed a few parties (your girl was prioritizing peace over party this time around), what I did experience made me want to rebook before I even disembarked. I came to relax, especially since I was sailing with my reserved, conservative spouse—and guess what? Even he cracked a few smiles and admitted he had a good time. That, my friends, is a five-star moment all on its own.
Now let’s dish on the food, because honey… wow. Restaurants like The Wake and Gunbae came through like culinary mic drops—flavors on flavors, perfectly plated, and unforgettable. But if I’m keeping it all the way real (because I always do), Extra Virgin fell a little flat in comparison. In a lineup of culinary superstars, she felt more like an understudy. Not bad, just… not the standout.
Now for the one hiccup—and I say this with nothing but sailor-to-sailor honesty: I booked during a promotion that offered up to \$300 in onboard credit. I was excited for those sweet sailor loot perks—maybe some spins at the slot machine, a fancy cocktail or three, or a cheeky little room service moment. But… that credit never showed up. I checked. Rechecked. Sailed. Debarked. Still nothing. It’s the only thing that dimmed the sparkle just a bit.
Would I recommend the Valiant Lady? Absolutely. Would I sail again? In a heartbeat—especially if that bonus credit gets honored like the treasure it is.
And listen, Virgin Voyages—if you're looking for someone who can capture the experience, spread the word, and sprinkle a little magic for future sailors? I'm your girl. Let me create content, tell your story, and be the voice for the vibe you've perfected. I’m not just a fan—I’m a whole movement waiting to sail again.
Until then, Valiant Lady, I’ll be daydreaming of red nights, moonlit decks, and that first sip of champagne on...
