Some aspects of this hospital services are good. A few are very good. But I write this in hopes that they will improve some processes that are an inconvenience to both the patient and the patient’s family. For starters, my mother was released by her med doctors at 2 PM recently. It wasn’t until I inquired what’s going on that I found out that she could not be released until physical therapy and occupational therapy saw her. But in fact, they did not need to see her. Further the RN could not release her, the case manager had to and guess who went home at 430pm. No case manager, so more pressing, more waste of time, more inconveniences to get my mother released. More misinformation lead to more delays and it was 430 before I pressed the nurse to get this ball rolling. I want my mother out of here as she was released at 2 PM. so nobody bothered to call the ambulatory service physician ambulance service until sometime close to 5 PM. I am not allowed to call physician ambulance service even though she’s my family member. Southwest knows that would be several hours before phys ambulance actually sent somebody. So a process improvement would be for SW to call physicians ambulance service immediately after the physicians release the patient. SW knows that will be several hours before the patient is actually going to be picked up. Be more proactive in helping the patient and/or family move on. Without pressing this with the SW nurse my mother would’ve spent another night in this hospital at the expense of Medicare. This is The second time something like this is happened because of the lack of planning foresight of Southwest staff. Or they are just lazy putting on the next shift to get s patient ready to depart. Further there is a single source contract at Southwest with physicians ambulance service which possibly hinders quality service in that other providers could be in here competing for that same business. and competition s What keeps Medicare’s cost down. instead I suppose it’s possible that physicians ambulance is kicking back revenue to Southwest to secure this contract. Their service is poor. They are always late. And the wait for transpirt is always several hours. I called physicuans ambulance for an update as they were already 20 minutes late past their 3 hr wait expected arrival time and was told we cannot tell patients nor patients families when the ambulance will artivr. Thus has to be done by a phone call being made from the hospital to physician ambulance more convenience, or needless delays. Improve your processes. do better. continuous improvement is the way to make your company. More efficient and your customers. More satisfied. In Closing stay away from Southwest hospital. Stay away from physician ambulance service.
More bad news, physician ambulance service. Just notified the hospital who just notified me that they scheduled her pick up two days from now. Monday morning and not Friday night. Oops sorry the best we can do is maybe another two hours from now. So its now 10pm. That is incredibly sad Service stay away from physician ambulance. I don’t know who screwed up the miscommunication. But it’s all terrible and very opaque. No transparency at all about who is doing what to the customer. bend over so that I can say “thank you may I have another.” Hospital bill will do business with them. They got a monopoly and they...
Read moreMe and my family used to love this hospital for many of reasons and would drive past other hospitals to go here. Over the past 3 to 5 yrs we have watched this hospital, especially the ER, go down hill to the point we are looking for another hospital to make our families regular hospital. I would have given a 1 star, but because they got me in and out of the ER in less than an hour and a half, I was fair and give 2 extra stars. The biggest issue is the staff here (mainly the nurses, in the ER) does NOT have bedside manners. They are not very pleasant or nice. This visit specifically not only did the ER nurse cut my wife off as she was speaking and then totally ignored her, but then the nurse at the entrance desk (where 3 other nurses were standing/sitting there doing nothing) was very rude and spoke in a nasty manner to my wife, whom was just trying to get back to my room with me after running out to our car for insurance card. This has only been getting worse over the previous stated time period and is the same with other staff. Even when reported to a proper person, nothing has changed. In fact, excuses have been given excusing why is being done and then tested if though patient(s) is being irrational wanting staff having compassion & care when treating us patients (wanting...
Read moreThe only reason I'm giving them a one star is the nurses for the most part are good. However when you are actively bleeding and in pain with your abdomen becoming harder and harder and you are either being ignored by the physician or he could care cores about your condition. Even my request to have the GI doctor consulted was blatantly disregarded as well as my pain my being treated. These are considered neglect in the eyes of the courts. I've had my disease for 42 years and I know my body better than anyone. I'm not a textbook, I'm not a drug addict or seeker, I am a patient whose needs have not been met and I will be contacting an attorney to sue not only this doctor but the hospital for allowing...
