This past weekend my spouse and I just happened to stop by the Pet Shoppe as we were driving around on a lazy day off. We had been looking for a Shih Tzu puppy but hadn't found the one for us yet, and we were immediately impressed by all of the dogs at the Pet Shoppe. We found an adorable, lively, electric little Shih Tzu girl that I immediately knew I wanted to take home. The staff let us spend a considerable amount of time with her, and was courteous and friendly throughout our visit. They were accommodating of all of our questions and concerns, and I couldn't speak highly enough of the staff we worked with.
I was immediately struck by the cleanliness and organization of the store. I want to point out that the dogs at the Pet Shoppe are kept in large open-air pens with tiled floors, blankets, toys, and water bottles. Each pen has a litter area in the back, all of the pens were clean, and all of the puppies were active, clean, and adorable. The store is much different than many others that house their pups in stacked wire cages, and touches like this make a big difference. I was happy to see these pups didn't have to walk around on wire-bottomed cages for their stay.
The check-out process was thorough and pleasant. The young lady who helped us was new to the store, and took her time explaining every bit of information and answering all of our questions. They provided us with a wealth of information about the pup's breeder and broker, vaccination history prior to her arrival at the store, and the list of encounters she's had with a local veterinarian after she came to the Pet Shoppe. They explained to us about possible health issues that we might encounter and discussed what would need to be done if we suspected our pup were sick.
The store offers free exams at selected local veterinarians. We are a bit of a drive away, so we took her to our local veterinarian who has seen our other pets for a few years now. My vet is not affiliated with the Pet Shoppe, and his exam was thorough and objective. He was impressed by her appearance, found no issues with her hips or knees, and found nothing wrong upon listening to her heart and lungs. His exact words were, "I have no problem with this dog. She's healthy and adorable." The results of the fecal exam are pending, but the presence of parasites in puppies is common and not indicative of any maltreatment on the part of the breeder or store.
I received phone calls from employees of the Pet Shoppe the day after purchase, and again today, checking up on us and seeing how our baby is doing. I was also provided with the owner's contact information should any emergencies arise.
The Pet Shoppe is a quality business that maintains their animals in great condition, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone seeking a...
Read moreWe recently brought home the most perfect, healthy, and absolutely spunky golden retriever puppy from The Pet Shoppeâand we couldnât be more in love! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. Dana, the owner, coordinated the entire process with such care and professionalism. Her support made everything seamless and stress-free.
We were also incredibly lucky to have Shannon guide us through all of our (many!) first-time puppy parent questionsâprobably 200 of them! She was patient, knowledgeable, and so thorough in walking us through everything we needed to know. The level of detail and information provided was above and beyond what we expected.
We picked up our pup the same day and were warmly welcomed by the lovely, incredible employee Raquel, who introduced us to our new boy. She helped us sort through what we actually needed vs. what we didnât, which was especially helpful as first-timers. Her warmth and expertise made a huge impression - we'll never forget the hour we spent with her going through absolutely every detail needed to take him home with us. She couldn't have been more patient, professional, and lovely to work with.
What really sets The Pet Shoppe apart is the support after you leave the store. Every staff member we've interacted with gave us their personal cell numbers and genuinely encouraged us to reach out with updates or questions. They've even asked for photos and videos to follow our puppy's journey homeâsuch a special touch that speaks volumes about how much they care.
Itâs clear that The Pet Shoppe partners only with top-tier breeders and has an unwavering commitment to the well-being of every animal they place. The level of transparency and respect for new pet owners is unmatched.
We canât recommend The Pet Shoppe highly enough. The team is kind, supportive, and truly invested in making sure every puppy finds the right home. And most importantly, our golden boy is thrivingâhappy, healthy, and already the love...
Read moreThese reviews are very mixed, I had an outstanding experience with The Pet Shoppe. I think people need to remember that you are purchasing a LIVE ANIMAL, this is not a car or a house. There are going to be a number of variables that go into it and unfortunately puppies are prone to complications such as kennel cough or parasites. These are easily fixable and I even anticipated it going in, although obviously I hoped for the best scenario possible. I purchased my fur baby in 2016 and worked directly with Dana (the owner). She was so helpful, I had gone in a couple of times but never found what I was looking for. I told her exactly what I wanted (a female apricot toy poodle) and she delivered! It was also important that my fur baby be 5 lbs or less full grown, as I travel frequently and wanted to be able to easily transport her. Pippa is almost 3 years old now and she remained 5 pounds. She is a forever puppy! People stop me on a daily basis and ask where I got her from and I always tell them The Pet Shoppe! Flashback to when I first took her home, she did not eat and I became quite nervous. Dana answered every text at any time of day and told me exactly what to do. It's true that puppies can become anxious in a new environment and it's normal! Pippa matured into a very happy healthy dog and my life wouldn't be the same without her. Please educate yourselves before you purchase a puppy, do some research and also make sure you ask questions about any paperwork you sign for the purchase so that you understand what their liability is and what you are responsible for. This is common sense to me. My mother bought a yorkie from a breeder in Pennsylvania years ago and that dog wound up being epileptic, so to say that buying from a breeder is "better" is pure ignorance. Thank you Dana and staff for your service I would certainly purchase another puppy from you and highly recommend...
