How is the movie room useless? That seems like an opinion not a fact. My friends and I go in there every night- you get to knock out an hour of cardio while watching a fairly new movie. Some people enjoy working out in peace in comparison to a loud, bright, open room. I've never had an issue with it being too crowded to get on any equipment. I was a member at WOW in Middletown for about 5 years and that was a nightmare- hidden fees, too crowded to find an elliptical, not enough weight machines, ect. I've actually been very pleased with the quality of this gym. The staff is friendly for the most part and didn't give me a hard time when my card was stolen- they let me workout until I could get to my "home store" to pay off my balance. The ONLY complaint I have is that there are not enough group classes. Infact the gym is not big enough for a work out room which is a disappointment. If you are looking for a gym with a class schedule- this is not the gym for you. But for some cheap dues with no hidden fees, this is the...
Read moreI moved to the area a year ago and started going to this Retro since then. I am here 5 to 6 days per week every week. They recently renovated the place and got brand new cardio machines as well as updated a lot of the machines they currently had. Also brand new free weights. They rearranged some of the gym as well and put in turf in the aerobic/boxing/stretching area.
The gym is always clean, especially since the renovation. Staff always friendly. The gym is rarely busy when I am there. Open til midnight during the week which is great. They are missing a couple of machines you would see at other Retros, but I think it's because of limited space at the gym. They do a fantastic job of maximizing the space they have and making it comfortable and easy to maneuver around the machines. Also, the equipment they have is plenty good enough to get a full workout in. I highly recommend this gym and it's as good if not better than the 5 other retros I have been to in the...
Read moreWas just in town visiting family for the weekend, and saw this local gym had a free day pass. Signed up, got all ready for the gym and headed over. Started to get set up in the gym when an older female manager came up and asked if we were local. I explained we were not, just visiting for the day. She then pointed to the sign and asked if we could read it instead of nicely explaining that the day pass is only for local residents. While I understand the policy in a tourist area, the manager had an undeniably horrible attitude, and I had already signed up for the pass and driven to the gym with no indication prior that this was the policy. Would not have wasted the drive if this was explained prior. The younger female employee working the counter was courteous the whole time, it was just the manager who felt the...
