The reflection room sign says "passengers and employees only," but it isn't clear why visitors waiting for arriving flights or seeing off departing passengers aren't welcome to use the space to meditate or pray.
If the room is restricted only to ticketed passengers, it might make more sense to locate it post-security, where travelers like me often have extra time and would desire a quiet place after getting through TSA. As it stands, it’s not clear who the space is really intended for, which is confusing.
It would also be helpful if SFO mentioned the "passengers only" policy online. That way, people could plan accordingly instead of arriving only to find it’s against the rules for them to use the space.
When I visited, there didn’t appear to be anyone checking boarding passes, but the posted restriction made the space feel unwelcoming. I wasn’t looking to break rules to enter a place of prayer. I ended up finding a more inclusive quiet place at the Aviation Museum, which was completely empty at the time I visited - check the upstairs seating.
