Camilo from Move Better Pilates & Training and his method of restoring functional movement has greatly impacted my life. Everything has improved from how I now perceive my fitness goals with movement to learning about pain and how to work with it and not against it.
I have been to many physical trainers, body workers, physical therapist, chiropractors, energy workers, kinesiologist, etc and for the first time I have found a person that truly practices and embodies his philosophy of movement.
Camilo, treats me as an individual and tailors the movement session to asses, build, strengthen and test my abilities. He is a compassionate and patient technician, proficient in functional anatomy, exercise physiology, and knows how to adjust the movement from its simplest form, building on each repetition and each movement session, there is so much depth to his knowledge.
I have been a massage therapist for 12 years, the common denominator of pain in my clients comes from either over use or under use of the body, movement is life, if we loose it our quality of life changes, but we are never too late to start moving.
I am now sending clients to explore movement with Camilo and they are all seeing magnificent results. Jess is fun, encouraging, positive and works really hard to help you improve! Michael’s Pilates classes are challenging and fun, and he finds new ways to challenge your body while making it a great experience. Haley teaches Pilates and is so sweet, knowledgeable, annd encouraging and finds ways to make every class a positive and a challenging one. Anna’s Pilates classes are wonderful too, she makes sure your form is good and you understand how each movement should feel to make a difference. There are a couple other instructors who I have experienced but I imagine they are wonderful too give the Camilo’s lead. The other participants and classes-I haven’t found one where I don’t feel so glad to be there, and everyone is so positive and happy to work and sweat along side you!    Read moreI started working with Camilo to avoid shoulder surgery. I tore my labrum mountain biking and the surgeon advised trying physical therapy before surgery.
Initially, my shoulder joint was very unstable and somewhat weak. Camilo assessed the extent of what my shoulder could do to baseline me and then developed a customized therapy plan designed for me. Specific to my shoulder injury. And it worked!
Meeting about twice a week for five months has significantly improved both the stability and strength of the joint. My arm no longer feels like it is going to slip out of the shoulder. I can sleep again on that side of my body. Although there are some exercises I will probably never do again - like dips - I am back in the gym again and doing upper body weights.
I am thrilled with my progress and strongly recommend Camilo. Thanks to his knowledge and experience, I feel like I was able to ‘substitute’ exercises for surgery and a lengthy recovery.
