I recently signed up for a membership at this gym, and overall the facility itself is clean with good equipment, good layout, and generally a solid place to work out. However, I wanted to share a concern I noticed shortly after joining. One of the personal trainers there has been working with clients in ways that genuinely raise some safety red flags. I’ve watched multiple sessions where clients were performing exercises that appeared unsafe poorly demonstrated, or just plain odd for their fitness level. I’m all for creative training but there’s a fine line between innovative and unsafe and unfortunately this seemed to cross it. I’ve had thoughts about getting a trainer but this just spoke to me how the personal trainers are
Update on the membership experience: During peak hours of the gym I’ve noticed profanity being shouted out loud from the members playing basketball. The staff is run by teenagers from what it seams who are rude and when approached they speak in a tone as if they are forced to work there. The lingering smell of marijuana also is disgusting in the men’s locker room. For a gym that has higher reviews it definitely raises an eyebrow if those reviews are fake or from the old gym it was previous before. L
Also noticed how some of the reviews are responded by the owner saying “noticed how your name is not in our system” as if they can’t accept an...
Read moreI like the Millsboro gym, but the fact that I have to wear a mask to work out makes me and my fiancé extremely uncomfortable when we’re there. We both have tried to cancel our memberships but have been told that we can only pause it for the time being and then we’ll reassess in 3 months. We cannot cancel right now at all. Or, if we want to, we can continue to pay until our 1 year is up (I’m October) and then cancel. If we wanted to cancel right now, we would have to bring in a doctor’s note that would need to say a medical reason why we needed to cancel. I was told when I called the gym today, that I was told these rules when I signed up during the pandemic last year, however when I signed up, it was not mandated yet to wear masks in exercise facilities, so this is not something I signed up for. I do not physically feel able to work out with a mask on. I do not feel that I should have to continue to pay for a gym membership when I am unable to use it, and yet I’m basically being...
Read moreAt face value it seems to be a good gym. Eventually you start to realize certain equipment is constantly broken, the barbells (outside of a few they bought while expanding) are old, beaten, and even full on bent. They offer a powerlifting area yet there's no bench there and the deadlift platforms are laughably uneven and the squat racks are routinely full of equipment nobody felt the need to put away. If you're over 200lbs, be weary of the treadmill you select as it may not actually get up to speed.
All of this pales in comparison to the ownership. Constantly disregarding their own staff and members, acknowledging that they've seen your complaints but never care to respond (until you mention another local gym is better). Even then, the solution isn't to fix their problems, just get mad at the member.
The location staff are friendly and personable, and the locations are convenient, but the culture of their main office really kills this place. We miss you,...
