I usually don’t write reviews. But, I thought I would give this a go for other brides coming in. Now I knew going to David’s bridal, being a big box Store I wasn’t going to get the experience of a lifetime and I was OK with that. I booked an appointment two weeks in advance and the night before I got a phone call saying that they overbooked, and that I could either reschedule or keep my appointment, but if I kept my appointment, I would have to share it with someone else. I was absolutely annoyed, but I could not reschedule because I actually took the day off work to do this. I’m a full-time working woman. Anyway, so I get there to say I was not helped would be an understatement. It’s fine I guess, I expected that, but what I didn’t expect was them to spend way more time with the other girl who was trying on at least five dresses by the time I left I only tried on three because I felt like I was bothering them. My son who came with me and his boyfriend had to help me since no one was there to help me. After I got the dresses on, it took about five minutes for them to come look. So, I finally Find a dress I really liked. It was $2000 and so I decided to buy it. It’s weird because about 10 minutes after I decided to buy it, they asked me to ring a bell, and it felt so lackluster to me. It was like an afterthought.. When I got to the register, I saw there was a sign that said I found the one and I really wish that they would’ve given me the service to take a picture with that. I mentioned it and no one said a damn word so, I had my son take a picture of me holding it in my street clothes.
We ordered the dress and that was in January, fast-forward to May I went and picked up my dress . Super happy with it, but I asked about alterations and I was told that they do alterations or I could go somewhere else and that we have the extent of the conversation. Frustrated I just left with my dress
So last night, which would be June 29, I get an email saying I have an alterations appointment today….. I never set one up nor was I even told they could do alteration appointments. I called them and the woman who answered the phone was very nice. But, she was very confused. She couldn’t see who made the appointment or why they did it. I told her no one really helped me. She did apologize, but that was the extent of it and she said she would cancel the appointment and if I wanted to get my dress altered, it would take 6 to 8 weeks.. Or they could rush, order me for a fee…. A fee??! I’m getting married in September and it won’t be done in time and they wanna charge me extra now because of their mistake? She canceled the appointment. And I just got a text message saying I missed my appointment. Absolutely ridiculous
I love my dress, for those of you who had really good service here I’m glad. But I was robbed of a very special day for me.. At least I found my dress, but these people working here have to realize That this is supposed to be one of the best days of your customers lives. And they treat it like just another day at work.
I don’t recommend this place, but I understand if people have to go here . So I just wanted to caution other brides. You don’t wanna leave here crying. Or feeling underwhelmed...
Read moreI strongly advise people to save their money and seek bridal garments elsewhere at stores who actually care about their customers. I went to David’s Bridal and was measured by a stylist, tried on various bridesmaid dresses, and selected a dress which we ordered in my size (size 18). The dresses on the floor fit comfortably in my size. When the dress arrived and I went to try it on for alterations it fit very tight to a point of feeling uncomfortable. The tag hanging off the dress showed size 18, the size I was measured for on the floor that we ordered. Mind you, I did not gain any weight from the time of ordering to the time of try on. I also do not wear dresses or form fitting clothing so I am not knowledgeable in how these types of garments should truly feel. I expressed my concerns multiple times to the woman who was pinning my dress at David’s, and she repeatedly reassured me that the dress appeared to fit nicely and that I wanted it to fit “snug.” So I trusted her expertise and accepted the situation as it was. A few weeks later I picked up the dress after it was altered. I was very happy with the alterations but the dress still fit uncomfortably tight, but I told myself I needed to accept that I would just have to feel uncomfortable for a few hours at the wedding. However, when I got home and was putting the dress away I saw that the inside tag was labeled a size 16, though the paper tag attached to the dress showed a size 18, and my receipt at time of order showed size 18. David’s Bridal somehow mixed up the dress sizes and/or labeled them incorrectly and gave me the incorrect size. I was devastated when I realized their error. It’s one thing for a dress to fit uncomfortably because of my own body size/shape, but it’s a whole different issue when I am forced to be uncomfortable because of someone else’s error. I called the store to see about a refund and how we could get this fixed and they were completely apathetic to the situation. The manager in alterations did not express any care at all and offered no suggestions until I started crying and begging that we do something so the dress could actually fit comfortably as it would have if they had ordered me the CORRECT size. The alterations manager then said I could bring the dress back to have the seams let out. This was my only option so I had to do that, but the dress still fit uncomfortably tight because it’s NOT my size that I ordered. I paid so much money for this dress, all of the alterations, and I put my trust in their skills and expertise. I truly believe they should have reimbursed me for the price I paid on the dress ($116.95) after this whole fiasco since it was the mistake of David’s Bridal and they took zero...
Read moreUpdate: I’m pretty disappointed in my return visit to David’s. I was hesitant to purchase my dress so far from my wedding date because I really wanted to lose weight and didn’t want to have to pay extra in alterations. At the time, they told me I should purchase because it could be discontinued at a later date and I was assured many times by the store personnel and the manager that I could exchange with no issue if I was to lose the weight. Well here we are and Angie who helped us was amazing! She saw that I needed to go down about 2 dress sizes and let us know she would speak to her manager about the exchange (surprise my dress is indeed still order able, another excuse they used to get me to purchase at the time), when we got to the register the cashier was really rude about the exchange. Her manager then came over and said “I’m going to get yelled at but we will honor it” she was the SAME manager who told me I could exchange when I purchased. I thought her saying that was extremely unprofessional and not my problem that she has to keep HER word, but I said thank you anyways. She then tells us that they have to charge me $220 more because of the sale price I got the dress originally. It’s an EXCHANGE for the same exact dress, plus they are having a semi annual sale according to their emails so I don’t trust this is true. I’ve decided I’ll be returning the petticoat that I also needed to have exchanged, and will be purchasing elsewhere. The sales team is nice, I adored Angie and Emerson who helped originally, but the manager and the cashier were terrible. They also “reminded” me more than 2x how basically lucky I was that they were barely keeping their promise. I love my Dress and was on cloud 9 due to seeing the difference in how it fit losing weight that I paid the difference and was thankful, but now sitting on it for a day I don’t trust they did the right thing or that there even was a difference in sale price OR that they couldn’t find a petticoat in the same price range.
From all this, trust your gut, don’t listen to any pushy sales tactics that they use, and don’t purchase before you are ready. I was told “at least you’ll be saving in alterations.” Which I now will likely go elsewhere for. ————
Emerson was very helpful and patient with myself and my family as we came in multiple times to try on my dress! Once we said yes to the dress she made it very special to ring the bell and make a wish....
