Monica ruined my wedding dress. It was a couple sizes too big in the chest, and I'm very petite (which she tried to use as an excuse for why the dress wasn't fitting, told me to gain some weight and eat cookies to make it fit), but she assured me it could be fixed. I have been going back for fittings every 2 weeks since January (keep in mind most people have 2-3 fittings at most) and my dress is nowhere near being wearable — my wedding is July 1! I finally gave up and called It's Sew Monica to let them know I would be coming to get the dress and told them NOT to do anything else to it! I went to get the dress and they insisted I pay before I was able to leave with the dress. I refused because the quality of work was so awful. We brought it to her so she could fix it and she did the complete opposite. I took the dress for a second opinion from another seamstress and she let me know it was completely ruined. I have to start ALL OVER. Two months before my wedding and I don't have a dress because Monica ruined mine. Furthermore, she had been lying to me telling me she had not cut any of the extra fabric off from where she had brought the dress in. Upon turning the dress completely inside out we discovered that she had cut EVERYTHING. There was nothing left to work with. We have called her multiple (4-5) times to attempt to discuss this and have left messages for her to call us back and she will not get on the phone. I have not been called back a single time. Now I have to spend $1500 in a new dress and she doesn't even have the decency to give me a call and apologize. Very unprofessional, DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! Not to mention, her shop is not clean or kept up at all. Last time I was in they were letting stray kittens run around in the same room as all of the dresses. DON'T let her touch...
Read moreMy wedding is in November so I scheduled a consultation very early (July) to allow time for alterations. At my first fitting Monica was very nice and quoted me for taking in and adding a few beads that had fallen off on the tulle of the gown. She also stated that she will not add additional charges. She even made a joke that the large beads were so beautiful that if they fell off, she wouldn’t be able to find them. (Implying stealing, but it was so outlandish that we all laughed). Little did I know, this woman actually stole beads off my dress. I went to four fittings and on the last fitting still needed a few things done. When I picked up the dress a few weeks later and brought it home (2 hours away), I found loose beading that was falling off the dress as I held it, loose threads, and beads missing. How could a business do this to a bride? I called to speak with Monica and was directed to an assistant whom I told of my concerns. She stated that beading wasn’t charged or agreed upon at my initial fitting and that if I want to come back it will be $.10/bead, ignoring the fact that we did talk about a few beads being added to the gown at my initial visit, there were also loose threads, and this is a 2 hour drive for me. Plus my bridal portraits were the next weekend. I am simply disappointed and saddened that someone would do this to me for such a joyous and special occasion in my life. Don’t trust this woman with your wedding dress if you have beautiful beading on your gown. She will steal it. I’m not concerned about getting a cheap price, I’m concerned about quality work, which I didn’t receive. I’m still confused as to why I wasn’t charged for beadwork when I asked for beadwork at my initial...
Read moreMonica is amazing! I got my wedding dress from David’s Bridal well I didn’t get it in until a month before my wedding after they ordered the wrong dress size and then kept postponing my pick up appointment. When I left there with my dress it was too big, the straps were too long, the chest was doing a weird thing, and they told me there was nothing they can do. Then I went to Monica a week before my wedding. She fixed all of that and redid my buster that David’s messed up for me for half the price that David’s Bridal charged me for hemming it. She’s a literal miracle worker. I wouldn’t have felt confident in the dress until after Monica made me look absolutely amazing in it. She was also super helpful when we realized it was going to be 52 F instead of 70 F and she let me borrow a fur wrap because my dress had little straps and it was cold. The bottom line is that if you have something that needs fixed and you think it can’t be, take it to Monica and I’m 4 million percent sure that she can fix it.Thanks again Monica for securing my self confidence for the biggest day of my life so far! Love you and can’t wait to see you...
