I went to the Renegade Rags (affiliated with Olio Vintage) booth at Art A Whirl this weekend and had a very unpleasant and stressful interaction with one of their sales people at the booth named Caleb. I had selected two shirts (one had a tag on it with a listed price, the other did not) from the booth and went to Caleb to purchase them. As is common as Art A Whirl and most other pop up vintage festival, I brought them to him and asked “how does $60 for both sound?” And instead of responding along the lines of “I’m sorry we aren’t allowed to do offers we can only sell at the listed price” he chose to, in a very harsh tone, say “are you kidding me these are two of my best pieces I have out today and we aren’t a pop up you can’t just ask for a price we’re an actual store and I don’t care but it would just be taking the stores money” and proceeded to lecture me about how inappropriate my ask was. I felt so overwhelmed and embarrassed that I just wanted to pay and leave as soon as possible. He then didn’t tell me how much I owed him so I asked “okay so $72?” And he said (with so much condescension) “no it’s $80. 36 plus 42 is 80.” My friend was also shopping at the booth and received similar attitude and condescension about her sweatshirt she was wearing for some reason?? Overall a very off putting and uncomfortable experience with a seemingly very...
Read moreRude and condescending owner . Don’t shop there. We literally spend thousands of dollars from Vintage clothing shops around the city and during our travel but have never been treated so poorly. We walked in and the owner could barely lift her nose from her phone to show us a pair of boots that she never bothered to take out of the cabinet. My wife was interested in a V. Westwood skirt which was priced at $300. I asked nicely if she would consider an offer and she replied “this is not a pawn shop Sir” , seriously I asked: Why do you feel like you need to insult me after I complimented you on your store. I tell you Lady, you will not get any shopping from me, my wife or her friends . We will see if you last more than a season l. Learn some manners please it goes a long way, especially in retail I wish I could give you zero star in return for...
Read moreI rarely give low reviews, and especially am disappointed to because of how beautiful and well curated the space was, but this was out of the ordinary.
We walked in and I was excited by how well decorated it was compared to other places I’ve been. I found it odd that none of us were greeted as we entered.
Whomever was working there was rude and invaded my personal space and my friend’s. I’m not sure why this was necessary and it made me uncomfortable, the classic “we don’t want you here” following around behavior. Perhaps we aren’t the type of people they want in their store? Keep that in mind if you plan...
