I am never going to this location again. Sarah, the manager, needs to seriously take a chill pill. The person checking me out (I believe their name was Angel, they had very fun hair and were very polite and sweet) had a register malfunction and went over to ask Sarah for help. After wrapping up her several minute long phone call, Sarah snapped at Angel right in front of a line of customers for asking her for help. If a manager ever spoke to me that way in front of customers, I’d quit on the spot. No wonder this location is so short-staffed! I’ve worked retail for a major company before—employees aren’t trained in register maintenance, and breaking such a machine would undoubtedly have negative consequences for the employee. Angel did the right thing by asking Sarah for help and did NOT deserve the severe reaction they got. I’m also a manager at my current place of employment and understand that it’s a stressful job, but there’s no excuse for taking it out on an employee, especially in front of a good half-dozen customers! Angel deserves a raise and Sarah needs to consider taking a job where she won’t be tempted to bully her employees when they’re just doing their job. In addition, I needed a replacement Cricut blade and Angel was trying to navigate a giant bucket of assorted Cricut accessories that didn’t appear organized at all. I ended up leaving without a new cricut blade and many of the other items I was looking for there. It’s June, and they still had Halloween items up—I love Halloween, but if Sarah isn’t cycling out out-of-season items, re-stocking the store or organizing the items they do have in stock—What’s stressing her out to the point of snapping at her employees?!? I’ll be sticking to the Northeast MPLS and Richfield locations, which are well-organized, well-stocked, well-staffed and not plagued with a widespread miasma of negativity and stress. Props to Angel and the rest of the staff for dealing with a manager who’s so needlessly harsh. I hope they’re all taking good care of themselves and that their emotional well-being isn’t impacted...
Read moreLike several other reviewers here have said, the manager(s) of this store need to relax. I called asking a simple question to which the manager (I believe it was Sarah) said she would not do something which was to look up the prices for a customizable item. I had already called another Michaels in the state where I first purchased the item and had no issue. It really was not a big ask at all and I had the SKU#s and descriptions to have saved time and confusion. Sarah refused to input them and then went on a tangential rant to which I allowed her to finish then I simply said ok I have nothing further. Instead of letting the mouse go, she decided to press on past the stage of passive aggressiveness right into the field of bullying. She chuckled and said well good luck. I hung up before she could say more though it was clear she still had a lot to say.
I do not always leave reviews especially not for a phone call interaction but this was so needlessly hostile, rude, and general unhinged that it absolutely warranted a review. If a customer is asking you a simple question, there is no reason to lecture/bully them. Sure, this could have been a failed attempt at making a sale, but that is where knowing your audience (singular or plural) matters. I’ve shopped at Michaels for years probably a decade as I grew up with one less than 10 minutes from my home. To say I have never experienced anything like this from a Michaels is saying a lot as I have been to several in different areas of the country.
As I said on the phone, I do not have anything further. I do not have the time (and am generally not in the business of) arguing for free. Good luck to you, Sarah, and the rest...
Read moreGood experience.
I picked out some items online and picked them up at the store. When I walked in I asked a lady at the checkout where to go and she pointed me to the back. She also called on her radio to let them know I was on my way.
The section she told me was incorrect, but I saw a sign and made it there. Did not like to have to go all the way through the store, but I suppose they want people to buy more and putting pickup in back might help with sales.
I waited 3 minutes until someone showed up at the pickup desk. I guess her radioing ahead did nothing, and I didnt see there was a buzzer to call someone up. Only took 2 minutes for the gentleman to find my order and bring it to me.
Everyone was nice, but it seemed to take longer than it should have. No real complaints though, saved 40% ordering online so a few minutes isnt a big deal.
Would shop there again, and...
