My husband and I are had to travel to the area on short notice for my father in law's funeral. We booked this place due to being reward memebers, location and current reviews. I'm unsure who's leaving the 4+ star reviews because our experience wasn't even close to 2 stars.
Front desk: Checking in was a mess. We arrived Monday 5/19 and we stood at the front desk for at least 5 minutes before someone decided to come out from the back room and greet us. When he did, he didn't apologize and just said he saw us pull in and just sat there staring at our car for a bit. During check in, he stated that the hotel didn't offer housekeeping to any guests during their stay due to Covid, but if we seeded anything we'd have to come to the front desk. He then noticed that we'd be there all week said oh you're occupying the room a long time so I guess pick a day for housekeeping and we'll try to accommodate it. When we did need extra items like towels we were given one towel each.
We booked a King suite with a wet bar and it was disgusting. It was not suitable for someone staying one night let alone six. All the clocks were set to the wrong time and we had to set them. The wet bar area was dusty, the microwave had old food around it and the fridge was sticky inside. There was no dresser to put any jeans in and the drawers that were on the desk either didn't open, had dirt inside or didn't stay closed. The closet and bathroom mirrors had spots while the vanity was covered in dust. The closet had all of 4 hangers, just enough to hang what we were goingto wear to the funeral. The bed was the worst. The top blanket was dirty with hair while the inside sheets and pillow had hair and dirt all over them. My husband called the front desk and all they said was they'll send someone up. When someone did arrive, all she said was she was to change the sheets and that was it.
The free breakfast was a joke. No employee there gave an exact time of the hours, but the sign posted was 6-9am. We went once during that time and there was no coffee, pastries or oatmeal left and what was there was cold and stale. When asked if there was more, we were told no.
During our stay there, we ended up having to buy our own pillows and phone charging adapters as the room had only one working USB plug and the pillows so flat they felt like concrete. Our scheduled housekeeping didn't happen as they called to confirm and asked what was in the room. My husband felt uncomfortable being asked that and canceled it as he had priceless items from his late dad in the room.
Minnetonka is a high society area and you pay high Hilton/Hampton Inn prices, but you get a Motel 6 experience, even if you're a Hilton...
Read moreThis review is LONG overdue! I wish I could put in to words how much we love this specific hotel property. Every staff member we have encountered has been so kind, courteous and professional, but we keep returning to this hotel for two reasons......Bill and Omar! If you have met these two gentlemen you know what a one of a kind each of them are. My son and I first stayed at this hotel the summer of 2017. Bill and Omar were both working the front desk and greeted us with a warm friendly welcome. We talked as if they had known us forever. My son and I were taking in a Twins game that evening and they wished us a fun time. When we returned to the hotel after the game they asked us how it went, my son showed them the foul ball he caught and they were so ecstatic for him and asked for the story on how it happened and just kept talking to him. Again, the conversation was warm and felt like we had all been friends for forever. Last fall we returned to the cities with the rest of our family and some friends. My son immediately requested that we stay at "Bill & Omar's hotel", and we did...and they remembered us! We talked again like old friends and we introduced them to the friends we brought with. Bill and Omar were once again as awesome as the first time we met them. Our family and our same friends made a return visit to "Bill & Omar's hotel" again this spring and our visit was just as pleasurable as our previous stays. We cannot wait to see them again in August when we return. We have never loved a hotel and personnel as much as we do this property and Bill & Omar. If you stay here, please tell Bill and Omar that you stayed because of the recommendation from the kid who caught three foul balls at two Twins games and his mom, they will know who you are talking about. Oh, by they way, getting to Target Field is a piece of cake from this hotel! Hop on 394 east and drive it right in to the parking ramp at Target Field in under 10 minutes. Thank you Bill & Omar for being a highlight of our stays! We look forward to...
Read moreTook my eldery mother from North Dakota to Hampton Inn in Minnetonka for a funeral the next day in Hopkins...drove up late afternoon to see if any availability. The rate was 199.00 and I asked if they would take the AAA for a discount or AARP..and she said "No we don't honor those"....my mother and I went to the room and I was having problems getting the remote for the tv to work AND the phone did not work trying to call the office to see about another remote...so i went down to the front desk and now there was a different person behind the desk and he was on the phone explaining to some one who had called that he could give them the EXACT room my mother and I had for 149.00 a night...when he was done i asked him why my mother and I have to pay 50 dollars more?...he siad "I don't know"...so I asked "so it depends on who is working?" he said "i don't know" and asked for my room number and i gave it to him and he got on the computer behind the counter and said "yeah ok i'll adjust that for you"......when i checked out i was charged 213.00...............i'm pretty sure he thought he wasn't going to be here the next day so it wasn't going to be his problem and just pretended to adjust my rate for my mother and I. Just felt like i was jacked around..the room was fine the maid was super nice and the breakfast gal was super duper cheerful...just thought I was going to end up paying what others were paying it in...
