I've had numerous bad experiences working with Geek Squad. First one was regarding a broken phone that took over 2 months to get it straightened out (Apple eventually had to eat the cost of a new iPhone because Best Buy lied to me about Apple Care). I spent two months and over 50 hours on the phone between the Missoula store, Geek Squad's 1800 number, Missoula's Apple Store, Verizon Wireless, and the 1800 Apple number. It was a 2 month endless loop of calls, transfers, holds, and disconnects....Someone from Apple is finally who ended up helping me, not Best Buy or Geek Squad who I had purchased my phone AND the Apple Care through.
I had computer problems last fall, and purchased a new extended warranty for my laptop (around $300). They had to replace my hard drive (another $200). I received my laptop back with the keyboard still popped out and keys not fitted back in correctly, my disk drive was broken, and less than 3 months after the hard drive replacement, my motherboard quit working (mid-Jan, the Tuesday before spring semester started). I asked how much it would cost and the guy at Geek Squad in the Missoula location tells me probably around $120-130, but he's not 100% sure. Says I should be without my laptop for roughly 3 weeks, but should receive a call within a week or so to tell me a better quote on the cost of repairs, at which point I can elect to do the repairs or just have my computer shipped back to me.
I wait almost 2 weeks before calling. The store can't tell me anything except that they shipped it off, and give me the 1800 number. I call them. They received my computer 3 days after it was shipped. It's still sitting somewhere in their warehouse and no one has looked at it. They can't give me any quote, but now tell me that the labor alone will be a minimum of $150....something the Missoula store idiot neglected to inform me of. (He's been there for years, so this had to have been a deliberate thing).
I'm now 5 weeks into the semester, still have not received a lick of information on my computer and the 1800 guys tell me to contact the store, while the store tells me to contact the 1800 number. It's the same circle over and over and over again. Their employees are a JOKE. No matter where you go it seems. At this point, they owe me a new computer. Or free repairs at least. 5 weeks without a WORD as to where my computer is or when it will be...
Read moreThis is for non local non-local Geek Squad. The local guys are pretty good. We bought a home theater about 9 days ago. The 1-800 Geek Squad # is a joke. There is usually at least a 30 minute wait and you might get a guy who knows less then we do which happened to us. Another time we put our number in to be called back. When they called back there was no one on the line. Tried the chat but the guy was eating a pizza or something - took him a very long time to respond and at one point chat went dead. Think long and hard for support like this. At $300.00 for "silver package" we got...
Read moreBought my laptop here a year ago. It just crashed during finals week when I needed it most. When I tried to reset the system it got caught in a reboot loop. I couldn't figure it out. I took it in and in the last hour of her shift and the day, Abby was so kind and so helpful and so knowledgable, and she had me sorted out before closing time. Thank...
