My year at Anytime Fitness: A review you need to read before choosing a gym. ...
I signed up late last year, towards the end of December, because I wanted to beat the New Year's rush. I elected to go with a personal trainer, on a bi-weekly training schedule. I had been working out by myself, at home, for years - and I felt that I had taken what I could do as far as I could. I needed help to take my fitness levels further.
And there's a catch...
I have cerebral palsy. I'm also 50 years old.
So I walk funny. I also walk with a cane.
Ironically, my favorite leisure activity is going to metal concerts. This involves standing for at least 3 hours straight. Normally, it's around 5 or 6 hours. While it was my favorite thing in the world to do, it was very punishing. I would be in a lot of pain at the end of a show. And I would have to spend two or three days recovering.
One of my main goals in joining this gym was to improve that experience. I will talk about that in a little bit...
But first, let me heap some praise on this place.
I worked with Zack as my personal trainer. We instituted an upper body day and a leg day each week. Zack was extremely personable and friendly. Most importantly, he had a deep understanding of how the body works and how muscle groups work within the body. He was able to incorporate little things into my workouts that made big differences. Having spent a year under his guidance, I would rate his performance, professionalism, friendliness, and knowledge as outstanding.
It was worth the cost of the service just for his knowledge alone.
The culture at the gym is great. Not only was Zack a rockstar, but I always found Ryan and Olivia to be incredibly professional and friendly. There's no muscle-headed culture at this gym. Everybody just wants to help you. Everybody just wants to see you succeed. It doesn't matter where you're starting from.
Now, I want to talk about the facilities.
This is the cleanest, best smelling gym I've ever been in - in my life. In fact, it doesn't smell like an average gym at all. I would describe the cleanliness at the facility as immaculate. And I noticed that the staff takes great care to keep the place tidy and sanitary at all times. That means a lot to me.
The equipment is modern and in great condition. The staff also goes to great lengths to maintain and care for those items. And there's a broad range of equipment. There's definitely multiple options to work the whole body with varying degrees of intensity. ...
Now let's talk about my results.
Within months, I saw drastic improvement. And when I went to four different large concerts this past year, it was a completely different experience. Normally, I would barely be able to walk after a show. And I would normally be extremely fatigued. With these four shows, I had plenty of strength throughout the show and I barely noticed any fatigue. I didn't have to spend any time - at all - recovering after a show. Traditionally, it would have taken me days to recover.
I think that's saying a lot. If the services and people at this gym can take a 50-year-old with cerebral palsy and completely transform his experiences - imagine what they can do for everybody else.
In terms of the cost, the value was absolutely there. I got real results and I saw real improvement. And the knowledge that Zack passed along will be in my brain forever.
So, if you are in Union County and you are looking for a place to get in shape - I highly recommend the team at Anytime Fitness and their services. I'm very happy that I decided to invest my time and money there; and I believe you...
Read moreNot at all being one to be a gym-type person, I absolutely love this gym. I had an injury that forced me to stop running and had to find an alternative way to meet my fitness goals. I met with the Owner, Ryan, after putting in a request for additional information. He contacted me through text which is my preferred method of communication and we set up a time to meet. He was super friendly and after walking through the gym, I knew I had found a safe and comfortable place to work out.
Pros: Not overly crowded (even in the afternoon) so you don't have to wait on equipment Single person shower/bathrooms. No more awkward getting ready around strangers Friendly staff You get paired with one of their trainers who checks in on you to see how you are progressing. They also will help set up a fitness and eating plan and walk you through the equipment to make sure you know how to use everything As I love technology, they have a very simple to use app to track visits and also an app to set up your fitness program and track your workouts (see screenshots). It syncs with my calendar, so I know exactly what workout I am doing and can't give excuses not to do them. I can also text my trainer directly through the app if I need to change up my plan As a woman, I don't feel intimidated by the men. Everyone I have met has been very friendly. I also feel safe (I work out at 4:30 am) Very clean. Everyone I have seen follows protocols for wiping down the equipment
Cons: *The cost. Because we are moving in less than 6 months, it wasn't worth me doing a long-term contract, so the month-to-month contract price was a little high. I could have done a long-term contract, but where I am moving to (at the moment) there are no convenient Anytime Fitnesses to transfer to. But considering all the above, it's still very much worth the price I pay to have a safe, clean, and effective...
Read moreShouts out to Ryan and Zack for going ABOVE&BEYOND!!! I was at the facility a couple weeks ago for my first visit and had an episode that caused my body to nearly shut down(blurred vision, nausea, super weak, fainting sensation). I don't know what the issue was but all I know is if it wasn't for both Ryan&Zack there's no telling what would've happened to me. I tried sipping on some water(Didn't feel any better) Ryan brought me a cookie hoping it would help(I was so nauseous I couldn't swallow it) They even went as far as running to the dollar store across the parking lot to grab me an apple juice because obviously my body needed sugar at the moment , and almost instantly i felt alot better. I don't have any health issues but Diabetes is strong in my family...God Forbid!!! (I go to the doctor this Friday to get a better understanding of what caused that to happen to me and what I can do to continue my journey of getting healthier.) They offered to call an ambulance but I declined for my own personal reasons but I'm sure they would have took precautions if needed! Once I was feeling better I was able to leave and by the time I made it home Ryan called to make sure I was okay& till this day(couple weeks later) they have checked in on me a few times. Above&Beyond!!! I will definitely be back after my Dr. Appt this week and I can't...
