Koumi Express — Restaurant in Monroe

Went to this place because it was recommended by a friend. When I ordered I asked if I could get the mushrooms from the hibachi on the side. I was told no. That I could get the hibachi without the mushrooms but I could not get them on the side. If I wanted mushrooms not in the hibachi I would have to pay $3.00. When I asked why, the manager said they were an express Resturant and that would slow them down. There was only one other person in the Resturant so it was not a busy time. So I asked how much longer it would take for them to cook my food and instead of throwing the mushrooms in the mix just to place them beside the food on the grill. I was told they can’t do that. So I stated then it’s nit that you can’t do it it is that you won’t do it and he said no. I have never been to a place that didn’t care about customer service so much...

Okay so let's get into this one...

The food used to be amazing! It has since slipped into mediocrity. The company apparently doesn't pay it's employees and despite being essentially a Wendy's that serves lo mein being it is now drive through only, it still expects tips to be left by the consumer. The packaging is AWFUL! The cashier was so focused on her tip (shown by the way she conducted herself) that she forgot what customer service was... Our food was swimming in juice that was not properly drained from the noodles.

As a side note: yes this is the best hibachi place in monroe mostly because the other places don't know how to properly wash dishes but don't get it twisted; the experience I had was...

USE EXTREME CAUTION BEFORE EATING HERE!!!!! I have been to Koumi a few times and my experience was ok. Today I ordered the chicken and scallop dish and within 15-20 minutes of eating the dish I had to run to the restroom to let the food out the same way it went in. I have never felt so sick after eating a few scallops and it was the only thing I ate so I know it was their food. The scallops were extremely dry and overcooked, as if they knew they were going bad and thought an extra minute on the pan will be ok. I will never return here again and advise you to be very careful before eating anything from this place!!!...
