Carnitas Guanajuato Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Monroe

Was our first visit. I assume because it was around midnight on Saturday night, they have the music loud for their customers? It was so loud that I had to yell at my wife, who was sitting just across from me. I ordered a simply Quesadilia. Imo, the meat that was on it was not hamburger meat. If it was, it was prepared completely differently than any hamburger meat I have tasted in 52 years. My wife ordered a taco salad. She said it was okay, but it was definitely not good. The sweet tea wasn't very sweet at all. The lady that came to the table was very friendly, and spoke English pretty well. I feel bad for this review. If it had not been SO loud and the food had some kind of flavoring, I would have left a much higher rating. I definitely don't think we will be returning. For what food we got. in my opinion, it was not work $32.50. But I did leave the usual 15% for the lady. Again. I do not like leaving such a low rating. Also, maybe it was bad timing? Idk? but I definitely saw no reason to be frisked at the door either. I suppose because I have long hair and look like a biker or maybe even a ( troublemaker), that was why. But either way, it wasn't a good experience...

We went on a Thursday night around 8:30. It was not busy at all. We started with beef nachos which was really good. I ordered a side of guacamole for the nachos. It was served with a rather unique presentation on a small plate, 3 or 4 tortilla chips sticking up and the avacado pit. I am guessing they do this to show it was freshly made to order. I did not mind at all because the guacamole was very good. The entrees were excellent as well. There is a bit of a wait for the food but I did not mind after tasting how good the food was.

I would go as far as saying this is the best Mexican food I've had in Monroe. They need to get the word out so more people can enjoy the food.

Don't be in a hurry to get somewhere when you go. Their website says they use daily fresh ingredients and everything is cooked to order. That takes more time to prepare than some fast food place. After tasting their food, I believe them....

The service was good. People are very friendly. The restaurant was nice inside. The music was loud but they turned it down without us asking. As for the food, it just didn't have much flavor. There is a lot of potential in this place if you just use seasoning. The chips were very good. Nice crunch and not greasy. We received 2 salsas, one bland, and the other bland with onion and cilantro. We had Ribs, Chicken Flautas and the Lamb Barbacoa. The Ribs were smothered in a mayo based chipotle sauce. It was not spicy and hardly any chipotle flavor. The Lamb was a little dry but didn't taste seasoned. The Flautas also didn't have much flavor and the rice was very bland. Now, the refried beans were pretty good.

I want this restaurant to succeed and I want to come back - if you add flavor to your dishes. Like I said, the place is nice, the people are GREAT. Just the food needs a little work which is...
