Unfortunately I had a reaction to peanuts two days ago. I have sever allergies and there was an accident and I was exposed, the unfortunate part was I was in desperate need of help and this hospital was the closest.
My boyfriend and his father drove me to the hospital, my guy called on the way and let them know we were on our way and what my status was, already administered 50mg on benadryl and an epi prior to leaving for the hospital. Upon arival my boyfriend got me through the doors, shaking and panicked with my airway working its way closed and they all stood there looking at me until one gentleman came around the corner to help. He assisted me as we walked back towards a bed, they then sent my boyfriend into a room and told him not to leave. Again, I was panicked and in full blown anaphylaxis, having a family member die of a peanut allergy just last year, added a whold nother level of panic for me and my partner. As we were walking back to the bed I was swarmed with nurses and doctors, and they all had accused me of taking a substance, they told me it couldn't just be an allergic reaction, they hadn't seen one like this before. They were damn near convinced and started stripping me and placing an IV and monitors on me all the while not listening to me. Thankfully one gentleman on staff, unfortunately, I did not catch his name, realized it was more than just the reaction and listened to me regarding my fears and anxiety coupled with the panic of my reaction. FINALLY someone listened to my lungs and my throat and decided I was, in fact, in anaphylaxis and administered another round of eip and benadryl and then informed me I was to stay the night as I had two rounds of epi. I was then moved to the ER and shortly after moved to the ICU to be kept round the clock watch. Again, we were met with unfotunate circumstances... the nurse who was assigned to me was in training. My partner and I were awoken what felt like ever few minutes with her rounds... she would come in, move something, check something, leave, come back 10-20 min later poke and prod me. At one point she was in my room for about half an hour trying to get a needle in my vein before she asked for help from another nurse. The second nurse came in, tried to get my veins and couldn't understand what was happening until she looked at my upper arm and saw that the previous nurse had left the tournequette on my arm... at this point it had been about 35 min with this band on my arm. The second nurse tried my veins and decided it was best to move on, I'm not sure what meds they were going to give me, but I never recieved them. They removed me from hydration and never put me back on an IV so when I left the hospital I was more dehydrated than I had been going in.
All of this and it still isn't the worst part. I went in for FOOD ALLERGIES - I wake the next morning to see my "dietary restrictions" are NONE! none. I came in with anaphylaxis due to peanuts and this wasn't on my chart. I tried telling all of the doctors and nurses from the ER intake, through to the next morning. I have multiple food allergies and nobody listenend to me.
When the doctors did their rounds I brought this up and Dr. Love informed me that "this is not the way we conduct business, I am so sorry this was overlooked." This was not an oversight. The allergiest was furious that there was an anaphalactic patient in the hospital and she was unaware, and there were no notes on said patient.
I have injection site pains in multiple places, serious questions to ask, and nobody has returned any phone calls.
Promedica, as a whole, is a JOKE. Do Better.
Please seek another hospital if you have the opportunity to, please avoid this...
Read moreI will NEVER willingly go to this hospital, ever again. Shadiest hospital I've ever been in. I've had TWO horrible experiences there, just in the past year. On May 11, 2024, in the psychiatric unit of the ER, they FORCED me to take two shots of an unknown substance. One shot, in each shoulder, simultaneously. Did they hold me down? No, but, they might as well have. When they realized I didn't want the shots, the entire staff in that section of the hospital literally stood in front of my bay bed, half of them with black gloves on, like they were going to beat me down. They FORCED me to go upstairs, to the psychiatric unit, after I fell asleep and they woke me back up. During the week they held me there, other patients were making comments to me about some of the things I said to a doctor that was there, which, tells me, they were telling other patients my business. Then, late night on September 29, 2024, I was taken to Promedica, under false circumstances, to prove that I didn't have a psychological issues, after my dad called the Monroe County Sheriff on me, under false circumstances. I went, on the 29th, willingly, to prove there was nothing wrong with me. Here's the thing, though. Instead of taking me to the psychiatric unit of the ER for an evaluation, they take me through the NORMAL ER doors. Normal intake. Asked me to confirm identity, address and take my blood pressure. I complied. They escorted me to a normal bed, in the regular section of the ER. I'm crying in my pillow, trying to figure out what's going on, because nobody is talking to me. Nurse comes in and asks if I want a shot for anxiety, and I said that was fine. Lights out. I soon fell asleep. That was around midnight of September 29, going into September 30. Next thing I know, I'm waking up 15 hours later, in the back of an ambulance, being wheeled into an unknown facility, in an unknown location, with nobody saying a word. I have a hard time sleeping for 2 hours without waking up, yet, I was out 15 hours straight after ONE shot in the arm for "anxiety". What did they REALLY give me? Never woke me up at Promedica to tell me I was being transferred, where to, when, why, or giving me the chance to call anyone. NOTHING. I fell asleep in Promedica Monroe, and woke up 15 hours later in Auburn Hills, being told at that hospital I was an "involuntary patient". How can I be an "involuntary patient" when I didn't even know I was going there, but, I went to Promedica WILLINGLY? The Auburn Hill hospital kept me, against my will, for 3 1/2 weeks because, when I found out EVERYONE was lying to me, I refused medication. After the Auburn Hills hospital took me to court, via Zoom, to try to force me to stay there and force medication on me, with 2 fake petitions, filled with lies, the judge IMMEDIATELY dismissed both the false petitions and the mandatory medication, and I was released that day. I have been looking into legal action since I got home, and have been told by one lawyer, on the phone, straight out, "You better drop this before the white coats show up at your house with a tin foil hat". Dear Promedica.. I'm...
Read moreI can go on and on about the terrible experiences I've had at this hospital. I think they hire anybody off the street and a lot of them are rude. Not saying they are all mean because I have came across a few nice people there. The most recent experience I had was with my two month. He was throwing up everything and not pooping it was only getting worse and everybody I talked to tried brushing it off as acid reflux and acted like I was just a young mom who didn't know the difference between throwing up and spitting up. The second time I ended up bringing him up to the hospital ( like 2 or 3 days after i brought him too his dr and tho the hospital) they finally did the chest xray. The first nurse we had seen (short blonde hair, bigger woman with a knee brace) acted like it was all a joke and we were just young parents and our baby was fine. She told us the ultra sound was fine and was getting everything ready to discharge us and kept just brushing off everything as it was just once again acid reflux. Thankfully there was a shift change and a great nurse who I can't thank enough came in. Wish I would have caught her name. She was tall and skinny with dark hair. She was actually listening to us and was trying to help us and she ended up looking at the ultra sound again and instead of just listening to the other nurse she kept my baby there, made phone calls and got him edmitted and transferred over to Toledos children's hospital where he ended up staying for a week and had surgery because he had pyoloric stenosis. I can't thank that nurse enough and a few of the other nice nurses we seen after we found out he was getting transfered. I have quite a few other experiences I've went through there that I could talk about but I'll be here all day writing.. I just really wanted to thank that one nurse again for making a difference because if it wasn't for her, we would have been sent home again and there's no telling what would have happened. My son was getting worse and because of her my son got the help and surgery he needed before it was too late and now he's a hundred times better. I hope this gets to her. She came in at 7pm on Feb. 19 to the children's area and I think she was teaching another young lady. I want to say thank you so much for caring for your patients and not just looking at it as a job. You give hope that there are still some caring nurses out there. As for the short blonde haired lady that was working right before you, I hope she starts watching you and...
