I have shopped at Macy's for years, however It has become apparent that Macys has done some serious backsliding as a retail store. I have been there numerous times since before Christmas, and most recently being this week. Each visit was at varied times of the day. A couple were in the mid-morning, a couple were in the late afternoon, and a couple were in the early evening. Each time it was apparent that there wasn't enough people staffed to help out a shopper with asking questions such as where can I find something, what is the price of this particular item, etc ..Nothing. There's never anyone around.I might also add that I've called Macy's prior to my trips out there to ask questions only to find that the phone just rings and rings and rings and no one answers any extension that you call. So in my most recent visit being this evening 4th of February I went to the store around 5:30 and as usual there was no one to be found. Very scattered staff here and there. I finally found a woman and asked her if she could help me to locate a shirt that I had seen at another Macy's in a different area of Pittsburgh. She was not at all receptive to helping me, and kind of walked off. She came back and gave me mumbled answer saying no one answered the phone at the Macys she was trying to call to get the information that I was seeking and then she walked away. I wasn't real happy about this but what could I do. I guess she must have had something better to do then customer service. The other thing that turned me off and this is not an isolated incident either was that there are clothes strewn on the floor in the departments that I was shopping in.. It's not very appetizing to me as a consumer to buy clothes that have been on the floor and I found myself walking around picking them up and putting them back on the hanger. It wasn't just a few pieces here and there there was clothes on the floor under the racks, and on the floor under the tables. I thought well if Macy's hired a couple more people or kept people around in the off-hours rather than leaving the consumer to wander around trying to find things answer their own questions in their heads rather than having a staff member do it then maybe the clothes wouldn't be on the floor. So for these reasons I'm giving Macy's three stars. One for the clothes not being hung up as they should be, and two for the customer service.. They need to step up their game, because with online shopping and competition from other stores Macy's can't afford not to be a place where people go and...
Read moreNaturally I love Macy's and my favorite place to go is the Dior counter. Today I went to purchase a new fragrance and looking into the YSL. This old woman followed me all around the store (of course she worked there) and I felt she was helping until I realized she wasn't. She hovered over me, constantly overbearing my experience in trying to simply find a new fragrance. I realized I didn't like anything so I stuck to my Dior fragrance section and she began to "enlighten" me on the Dior fragrance. I know about it because I am a loyal buyer to Dior. She then proceeds to ask what I'm looking for and if she can find anything in my "price range" I told her I did not have a price range and as I continued to look she would stare and watch me from across the store until I acknowledged how much she was hovering and staring to my fiancé. She then decided to ignore us and wasn't attentive at all to us when we finally decided to buy a new purchase from Dior. She was rude and made us feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable. For context on myself, I am a black woman wearing baggy sweatpants and a pull over hoodie with a blonde afro. Guess I didn't "look the part" as someone who shops at Macy's. Before I walked in I knew I'd be judged and notified my fiancé (a white woman in sweats and a jacket) that it would happen and just as I suspected I was correct. Macy's can be great, but the people who work there should be carefully selected. She was well pass her prime, the old woman that felt the need to be so "attentive ". Haven't been there in a while and I see why. They need more inclusive and...
Read moreAlthough they made it right after I had to return to the store because they overcharged me for makeup that has been discontinued that was set out on the counter they charged me full price so I had to return and then they made me feel like we wanted money in return as an inconvenience towards the customer when they should have offered something we had to ask and then the person who came and brought down a customer service voucher never said I apologize Sorry For your inconvenience or anything like that she just handed it to me and barked out instructions that make up my mind on what I want because it's not returnable when I use this certificate. I was wishing for the older lady that was wonderful but they said she retired from that particular Estee Lauder counter and others that have given me good service or not working that day or evening. And when I called and realize that my bill was so high the salesperson did not want to take the blame she was saying she didn't know that it went back up mind you this was old makeup discontinued she said the new formula was out then I asked her on the phone about getting another one since it was only half price and she said oh no it's going to be high again full price but it's old makeup I said so she said well I guess they're just going to pull it off the shelves but yet and still she sold me old makeup that was so bad they're going to pull it off...
