Charleys Cheesesteaks — Restaurant in Monroeville

First of all, this location is in the Monroeville Mall food court. This is important for two reasons: 1) the listed address shows up on Google Maps as being in the mall annex - the small strip mall behind the mall. It is not. It is actually inside the mall, in the food court downstairs. 2) this is a review of a food court restaurant, which I'm comparing to other food court restaurants.

I didn't set out to go to a mall food court. I saw a new location in Plum Borough (on PA-286 in Holiday Park), but found it wasn't open yet. The sign claimed to offer "The #1 cheese steak in the world." I'd never heard of them, but wanted to try it out, so I looked for other nearby locations. There was no indication that it was inside the mall, or I wouldn't have gone. I only found out by calling, once I arrived at the mall annex. Since I was already there, I decided to give it a try.

I was pleasantly surprised. No, it's not the best cheese steak in the world, but it was much better than its food court surroundings would suggest. Service was fast and friendly, but a bit difficult to understand.

I wouldn't make a special trip for it, but I would definitely eat...

This was a good Philly cheesesteak. The ingredients were fresh and they made the food rather quickly, but it didn't taste rushed.

The staff was very nice and friendly. It was cool to see how quickly they showed out the orders and then put them out.

I read a lot of comments about the price being too expensive. I don't think so at all. I got the classic Philly cheesesteak. It was only $7, and for how good it was. I would have paid up to at least $10.

The cashier was very friendly and did a great job with taking our order and putting the request for no cheese due to my dairy allergy. The rest of the staff were extremely rude and ignorant. They still made my sandwich with cheese and tried lying to me that it didn't have it. I opened the box and showed them it did and they continued to tell me I'd be OK. When I reminded them of my allergy, they rolled their eyes and finally took it back and remade my food. They food was good but we will not be returning due to the...
