I visited 2nd Street today to sell a bag of clothes (brands like Supreme, Palace, Chrome Hearts, Denim Tears, Yeezy, and Nike). Arriving in the late afternoon, I dropped off my items, and the employee informed me that the wait would be approximately an hour, with the assurance of a call once they were finished up. I was totally understanding of the weekend rush and accepted the wait, anticipated it actually. I had paid for parking and went to get a coffee in the meantime.
1 hour and 45 minutes went by, and I checked back in on my buy; I was informed that there were still 7 buys ahead of mine, prompting me to request my clothing back without selling anything. While I comprehend the challenges of busy weekends, the significant deviation from the initially communicated one-hour estimate was just too muchâŚ7 buys would have led to another hour or so. 3 hours to sell a bag of clothing is kind of absurd. Had this been communicated to me when I dropped my stuff off I would have handled this all differently- and not felt like they had simply wasted my time.
My interactions with the employees left much to be desired; they appeared nonchalant, unfriendly, and unapologetic for the time I felt was wasted. This sentiment aligned with similar experiences shared in other Google reviews that I read during my wait. Notably, there was only one employee handling buys, exhibiting a lack of urgency as he leaned on the buy counter laughing with another employee as I left. Observing the amount of clothing "in waiting," it was evident that a more efficient processing time could have been achieved within the initially estimated hour. Having worked for a competitor for an extensive period, I understand the intricacies of the industry but place a high value on both efficiency and customer serviceâŚneither were achieved here.
For those mindful of their time, I recommend considering alternatives such as Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads Trading. While pricing and service may be comparable, these competitors have consistently demonstrated a more expedient process. Regrettably, I will not be returning, as committing 2-3 hours to unload clothes I no longer wear seems...
Read moreâď¸ 1 Star â If I could give ZERO stars, I would.
This is hands-down the most frustrating and disappointing experience Iâve ever had at a secondhand store â and ironically, it happened at Second Street, in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods. Youâd expect professionalism. Instead, I got total chaos and zero respect.
Hereâs what happened:
Last week, I saw a dress in the store with a price tag of $5. I asked to buy it, only to be told it was a misprint and the actual price was $39.90. I said fine, Iâll still buy it â I really loved the design and it fit me perfectly. But the staff refused to sell it to me, claiming it hadnât been âcraftedâ (repriced) yet. I was told to leave my number and that theyâd call me after the new price was set.
I even told them: âIâm willing to pay $59.90 â just donât sell it to someone else.â They agreed. I left, and waited.
One week later, I drove 30 minutes across 15 miles back to this store. No one ever called me. And guess what? The dress was âalready repriced,â put back out, and â surprise â already sold. They couldnât even tell me when it happened. I searched the entire store and it was gone.
So not only did they break their word, they also wasted my time, energy, and emotional investment. And the Manager? Rude, dismissive, doesnât even make eye contact when speaking to customers. When I tried to explain the situation at checkout, he wouldnât even properly respond. Just brushed me off like I didnât matter.
Let me be clear:
This is not just poor service â this is a complete lack of accountability, communication, and basic decency.
This location does not respect its customers. It pretends to operate with structure and professionalism, but in reality, itâs disorganized, unreliable, and absolutely disrespectful.
To the management of Second Street HQ: If you care at all about your brandâs reputation in the U.S., especially in upscale areas, you should replace this manager immediately. No customer should be treated this way.
đ I will never shop at this location again. And I sincerely hope my experience helps others avoid the same...
Read moreThe store has a nice mix of clothing and options. You can get some good deals on usually high-priced items and there are some quality finds. Unfortunately, they have an extremely unprofessional manager named John. The rest of the staff is very pleasant staff and they are engaging, very helpful, and give off positive energy. I have been in the store several times and the staff has been a pleasure (Adam, Nasir, and Paola - a different manager). Buying items is not a problem. Besides my own experiences, coupled with a few friends of mine, we have not had a good experience with selling items. The main constant in that equation is one of their managers, John. John's demeanor, dismissive nature, and lack of interpersonal skills is troubling. The quotes are subject to change and estimates of timing can be off. John is not approachable and gives an air of not wanting to be bothered when dealing with customers overall, which includes when people approach him with items to be reviewed for selling. Interactions that I have experienced, and that I have witnessed with John, have been unpleasant. He's been very rude with his words, actions, and leaves a customer feeling as you are bothering him and he has better things to do. This is not a case of catching someone in a bad moment or having a bad day - it's every single time. Customer service is nonexistent.
I would have given more stars for 2nd Street and their staff but the manager, John, can make going there less than desirable. Hopefully, you can enjoy your shopping experience and be aware and possibly...
