VGS: Variety Goods Store — Local services in Montclair

Idk. Probably legit but I felt like upon entering I was about to star in my own b rated horror film. I trust my gut on these types of things, especially in high human trafficking cities like Pomona/Montclair. Had to get buzzed in to drive pass the gate. Then motel/hotel rooms that seem odd where some were businesses while some looked like they had families on vacation renting them. I just needed a Gameboy cover case man haha so not worth getting kidnapped. Imagine entering and the deadbolt lock + those locks that's motels have to lock only from inside. I knocked and even tried the handle feeling awkward. Nothing happened. I went downstairs and left. I was getting calls from them as I left. Probably to stall me and have more time to prepare what ever was about to happen. Could be a legit business and probably is that's why I leaving it as a 5 star review cuz I also made it out safe. I've encountered things like this with fake reviews and idk. I'm glad it was an auto gate when I left otherwise they could have got me forsure. Seemed great the first few months of buying in-store games besides a few that had blockbuster boxes etc., but then made the mistake of ordering items for pick up from them for birthday gifts. Items never came in, such as a ps2 and a few titles, then they were unreachable and never got back to us about the pick up orders. Disappointing. The store is in an apartment, so not sure about the authenticity and licensing after speaking to other local 3rd party game shops, who by the way, ended up having better prices for the same retro titles (PS2, Xbox, GameCube) then this place. I searched all over the Ontario/Montclair area for a trusted place to repair my childhood PSP, and VGS was my final choice of where I brought it.

Matt was very VERY helpful and transparent throughout the whole process. I never felt like I was left out of information on my system, and Matt was willing to set his time aside to make sure the right thing was done. VGS was able to repair my PSP power switch, AND mod my system to the fullest extent !!

Matt even set aside his time to show me how the mod worked, and ever gave me the opportunity to make other purchases for my PSP. In a nutshell I’m basically trying to say that this place is THE SPOT!!
