*I was at Aldi on Hwy 65 & 109th NE in Blaine, MN. It is a 'new' store that used to be a Best Buy. Aldi's new/remodeled stores are nice, clean, have a larger variety of items and their prices are generally lower than other grocery stores. You still need to know your prices. I love Aldi and continue to shop there. ❤❤ *The only real complaint I have about this store, in particular, is their logic in placing the fresh produce and then the bread as the first two sections as you walk in the door. *It really creates a bottleneck. If you're like most shoppers, you're not going to take the first box of strawberries you see. You're going to stop to inspect the products, and then decide which products you want and which box or bag is the best quality to choose for your family. The same thing goes for picking out my bread. Aldi has such a nice variety of breads...Artisan, Brioche, sweet breads, sandwich, split top, low calorie/low carb bread, buns, rolls, sliced...you get the idea. I like to look at all of it and then decide what intrigues me. Have you ever tried making a grilled cheese sandwich using a cinnamon swirl bread? My mother introduced me to it years ago, stressing to me how good cinnamon is for you. I was skeptical. It was actually quite good! Just a little twist on an old favorite! Thanks, Mom! *Anyway, I just think Aldi floor plan designers should have put a little more thought into the arrangement/placement of these products. They were probably thinking about putting really popular items close and handy so people could just 'grab & go'. If it was me, I would have grouped the bread and milk together! More times than not, that's what I need before a Minnesota snow storm. *I admit, I'm a slow grocery shopper usually. I love to look at new products, like to try new items, check them out. It's not unusual for me to take 2-3+ hours to buy groceries. ... I know, I'm sorry. I'm just curious. I...
Read moreI LOVE Aldi's! The produce is always fresh. They have a ton of organic produce available too. It's always fun to see the seasonal and home items that rotate through. I've found some cute, practical, or AMAZINGLY cheap deals in that section. You never know what they are going to have there. Cereal for 1.29-1.79 a box is a steal. Especially when you have a bunch of teen boys. Pasta and sauces. All the staples. I do all my major weekly shopping here. I do have to go to Cub every 2 weeks to fill in a few items that Aldi's either doesnt carry, or the few things I'm picky about brands with. I have yet to try an Aldi's "brand" item that I thought was terrible. I do a lot of scratch cooking though, so I don't really care who manufactures my flour, sugar, tomato paste, pasta, rice, etc. Frozen pizzas, good ones for 2$! The meat is always fresh and a good deal too. I just dont have anything negative to say. It takes a few trips to get into the "groove" of everything. I use my own cloth bags wherever I go, so that part was never an issue for me, and now they do sell paper bags for a nickel if you don't have any or forget yours. This company has really managed to keep costs down by doing simple things and IT WORKS! The staff is always friendly and helpful when needed, I've never had super slow lines like Walmart or Cub. I figured out that I save about 70-80$ a weekly trip, with no coupons to clip! That's 300$ a month, 3,600 a year! I tucked that away and bought a new lap top last year with what I saved! Everyone should give Aldi's a try! Keep up...
Read moreAlmost everything I buy at Aldi is very good and prices are lower that most stores for the same type item. I especially like their Gluten-Free items which are very good that even my friends without gluten issues are impressed. They have a variety of GF items although only a few flavors/varieties of each item, i.e. two kinds of cookies but I usually like at least one of the choices!! update: During Covid pandemic, special hours are added for vulnerable customers: On Tuesdays and Thursdays, ALDI stores will open at 8:30 a.m. and reserve the first hour of business for vulnerable shoppers. This includes senior citizens, expectant mothers and those with underlying health concerns. Update March 2023: Aldi has discontinued making many of the Gluten Free items I used to shop for available at this store and others in the twin cities. I still see these items listed on their website but have not found them at the other local stores I have checked. I used to shop here 2X a week but now just a couple times a month and I buy so much less. A huge...
