A friend has raved about Desi's food for years. SO when it came time to plan my daughter's bridal shower, I decided to head out to the newly opened "The Grateful Gourmet" cafe in Mt Holly to do a little "research". Well, this was my first AND last stop. The food was FABULOUS! The little cafe has the coolest, hippest and friendliest vibe! Desi was such a great help suggesting some delicious light summer fare. She was so patient and answered every question this nervous mother-of-the-bride-to-be had! Thank heavens it was only for 25 people!! On the big day, Eva showed up right on time and set out a beautiful table. She had been my server at the cafe and she was just as attentive and friendly at the shower. Not only did she tend to all the food and serve the guests; she cleared plates from the guest tables, cleaned MY containers and utensils, packaged up leftovers and left my yard just as it was when she arrived. My guests raved about her! And deservedly so, she was outstanding! If "The Grateful Gourmet" has not been on your list of "new food must haves" check it out. I tasked Desiree with creating a fun “anything but basic bbq” menu for our annual Summer BBQ and OMG did she succeed!

Our guests enjoyed everything from a Build Your Own Hot Dog Bar with endless options to satisfy everyone - you have to try her homemade pimento cheese - to lump crab deviled eggs, pork belly sliders, kale Caesar salad, New England shrimp rolls, and elote corn! To name a few items on my menu!!

I made a last minute panic call to Desiree having had extra guests rsvp two days prior to our party date and it was no problem at all. For reference, we planned for 80 people, portion sizes were over the top generous. Our guests eagerly accepted Take Home Bags and we had leftovers to enjoy ourselves the following days.

Quality of ingredients were superb. Fresh veggies. Homemade sauces. You can taste and see the love put into preparing all this food.

I'm so happy Desi landed here in Mt Holly , her food is fantastic ! When she first opened I had a pre-made couscous and beet salad with a marinated orange slice , crazy delicious between that and stuffed potatoes i had next visit i knew without a doubt , she knows what pairs together well , the combo in that potato was impressive and kept me coming back ,although no longer on the menu I've since had so many things, specials like the Peach salad I was nuts over and ordered repeatedly ,love it , Mahi Mahi sandwich was so good and a peach pop tart i had today .. big flaky and delicious . On the regular ,current menu don't miss out on the fried green tomatos ... over some kind of cheese heaven 😋 her ceaser salad is spot on too . She sells lovely cheeses in the refrigerator case and nice crackers , high end sodas .
