This really pains me to do being a Mount Holly native who loves his town, but enough is enough. Me and my fiance have come to the local since they have opened and it has been downhill since. So lets start with the positive. They have a great selection of craft beers most of which were brewed right here in New Jersey. Unfortunately that is where the list ends. The menu has never been big but it had frequent changes and you could always find soemthing new. This time however, we were given a one sided sheet that resembled a simple bar menu, with extremely overpriced options. I ordered the Gnocchi, which I was supremely disappointed in. It looked like the gnocchi had been stuck to the pan and had little to no resemblance to any gnocchi i have ever seen. This is NOT something a good cook would ever allow to be served to a customer(picture provided). On top of that the portion sizes are that of which you would expect from a kids meal. If i cupped both of my hands i could fit my entire meal inside, which is extremely disappointing for $16. Needless to say, I left with an empty plate and a hungry stomach. My fiance ordered the BBQ pulled pork. She said the pork was very fatty and had next to no bbq flavor. On top of it the fries lacked seasoning and the pickle had a weird taste what i think was a balsamic vinaigrette? On top of that the service left something to be desired. Our waitress was a sweet young girl, but seemed overwhelmed by the Saturday night dinner crowd. After having my credit card for 10 minutes she came back to deliver another table drinks and to tell me she still had my card. So overall, if you want to visit our town and have a few drinks it is not a bad place to visit if you are willing to pay a little more than you would at your local sports bar. I personally do not see myself eating there for quite sometime. They need to do a little more work on the menu and reevaluate the kitchen staff. I hope The Local is able to right the ship as I will always route for all the small local businesses in...
Read moreWell. That was disappointing. $107 for sad, cold, burned food.
The fried pickles were cut into tiny bits that were just...weird. The empanadas weren't drained of the grease and fell flat.
I ordered a burrito bowl, medium rare. It was COLD and rare. The rice and the beef, seemingly staight from the fridge.
My son and husband both ordered the Local burger, medium well. Both were charred. The fries were little bits, clearly from the bottom of the barrel.
We would have brought these issues to the attention of the server, but we didn't see her for 20 minutes. Once she did appear, she didn't check on us.
When she finally came over to ask how our meals were, I had only taken a few bites because it was so cold. I told her it was ice cold and she said it's supposed to be that way (I have never had a burrito bowl with ice cold rice and protein...) but the beef should have been hot. I said it wasn't. She apologized and asked us if we wanted boxes and walked away. In the end, she took $5 bucks off the meal (thanks for nothing!) and that was the last of the interaction.
We would have continued to mention the rest of the food but clearly, the server didn't really feel like helping, so....lesson learned-don't revisit The Local.
Not every place is perfect evert day, and issues can be expected, however, a staff trained in customer goes a...
Read moreArrived here at 8pm. Just a party of 2, me and my friend. We started off with water and ordered wings as appetizers and put in our order for the enteees as well which were two burgers. We received our wings, uncoated and with the sauces on the side; at 9pm, an hour later. Took an entire hour for our appetizers. We waited next for our burgers however we decided to just leave around 9:30. Was here for about and hour and a half in total and only ended up receiving a water and 6 small wings. I could have drove to New York City in the time allotted here waiting for food. Who knows, maybe the food is still cooking even though we left. Or maybe it’ll never come out. The world may never know. Avoid at all costs unless you have that type of free time in your hands. A thanksgiving meal for two could have been made in an hour and half. The need to up their kitchen staff to keep up with...
