This LA fitness has the rudest staff I have ever come into contact with. The staff is ill prepared and discriminatory towards those with disabilities. A loved one and my self were members of this gym, unfortunately he was in a car accident and suffers from cognitive and physical disabilities, and is currently wheel chair bound. For 8 months he was in the hospital / not medically approved to go to the gym. instead of charging him his normal $20 a month, they charged him $10 a month so he didn't have to another $300 to resign up. When he was able to go back into the gym, staff did not know how to work the pool lift, it was dirty and the battery died while he was in mid air. The staff attempted to change the battery while he was still on the lift, until I told them that was unsafe and to lower him back into the water to change the battery. When we were done, I was unable to go into the mens locker room and he was unable to go into the woman's locker room so they put us in the pool storage closet with chemicals, poor lighting and no chairs or grab bars. Also in the pool area the manager spoke about his financial and health history in front of other members whom we did not know. When asked if he could have an extra guest come to support him and transfer him, we were sat sat down and given many options on how to refinance his plan including increasing the monthly rate or canceling his membership and then paying over $100 for another start up fee. We did stay with this gym as he has paid a lot of money, but have recently found a much better gym at virtua in vorhees which is worth the drive as they are accommodating, prepared and knowledgeable. Every time I have spoken to someone from here about these issues they diminish them, are rude and ignorant to...
Read moreI am happy to be able to update my review. I reached out to the one person, Kirstie, I had met; she put me in touch with Ben, the manager — who ultimately put me in touch with one of their trainers, Ashley— who is wonderful. Ben and Ashley were more concerned with the fact that they had failed to give excellent help to a new member, and Ashley stayed late one evening to listen to my fitness goals and then patiently taught me which of all the equipment I should use, and could not have been nicer or more professional. I am so happy that I returned to this location, which is large and clean and bright. I can’t thank Ashley and Ben for their kindness!
I just joined; after having had surgery just a year ago and finally cleared to do some strength training, I was cornered by a super aggressive elderly man who handles the personal training. He wasted two hours of my time during which he showed me photos of his naked legs (!)— and how to use two machines. When I refused to hire him as a personal trainer — I had said I was not interested in personal training, I want to come in to work out when I can, he became extremely rude. “I have college kids who pay this. You can pay it too. You get your nails and your hair done, you should put more money into this.” That was never the point; I am just not interested in having a trainer. I’m going to try once more to go to this location to actually learn how to use the equipment that will target what I need —- before I go to another location. I gave two stars as the facility is very nice, and every other person I encountered was pleasant. But this creepy old man bragging about his ‘wealth’ and ‘fame’ is...
Read moreWow! The real manager, Donna, is rude as hell. I say real manager because she’s the only one that every one says that you need to speak with to cancel your membership on the spot. Otherwise, mail in a form and hope for the best. This gym has no issue signing me up, but month 2, they started charging my COWORKER’S account for my membership. Let that sink in. And the form that I received had the wrong email address (it wasn’t my coworker’s either!!). Needless to say, I don’t trust them with paperwork so mailing a form wasn’t an option. Every time I went to the location, the receptionists (there have been 3) were extremely kind & helpful. So, as I waited for Donna to get off the phone, the receptionist gave me as much detail about my account as she could. Once Donna asked how could she help me, she cut me off before I could ask the questions the other woman couldn’t and then had the audacity to take another phone call. Really??!! I waited some more & now you can tell she was annoyed that I was still there. When she got off the phone, she asked the receptionist (I’m still at the counter) what did I want. Then I heard her say that I didn’t have to wait for that...I said excuse me? She restated that I didn’t have to wait for her. I responded that if she’s the only one that could answer my (billing) question, then yes I did. Her answer was of course snippy. Seems the MANAGER DONNA needs some customer service training, LA Fitness. BTW if you need to speak with her, her hours...
