I visited the Burlington Coat Factory in Mt. Laurel, NJ to purchase a set of luggage. I asked the clerk to open because I wanted to confirm the other 3 pcs were on the inside of the 28" luggage. He didn't seem surprised when he opened and nothing was on the inside. I asked to speak with the manager. He said he was the manager. He stated " corporate directs us to sell products. If we have the other luggage , I wouldn't sell them as a set." I asked if he was kidding. He said, "no". I asked if paying for one pc of luggage at full price made sense when the luggage is tagged as sold as a set. He did not respond. I asked for his name. He he stated? " Brandon, Im the only Brandon here. " I did not sense he was being truthful as he refused to provide his last name and did not know the name of the district manager. Brandon or whatever his name was not dressed like a manager nor carried himself as a manager. He didn't care and it showed in his tone and non-verbal communication.
This Burlington Coat factory practices are fraudulent and misleading because the luggage was cleared marked 4pc set and Brandon (?) Refused to set the item as advertised. I purchased the same 4pc luggage set from Burlington Coat Factory in Chicago with no issues. When a company or individual lacks integrity, the cannot be trusted. I went to Bjs and purchased a 4pc set for $20 more.
There would not have been a problem had the tag been removed in the first place.
This Burlington Coat Factory needs training in cultural diversity and DEI. I read the review from the latino lady and the negative experience she had with her mother. It did not surprise me. I have the photo of the luggage cleared markef 4pc to attach...
Read moreExtremely unpleasant experience with the store manager whoâs name is Steve or Steven this afternoon. I want to preface that I live local and spend a lot of money in this specific location with no issues yet until today. I had my 5 year old son in store with me and 1 item turned into several quickly (was not the plan but when is it ever) and I did not have a cart. I asked my son to hold an item so I can readjust what was in my hand and unfortunately that item fell within 30 seconds of being in his hand. The item broke as soon as it hit the floor and my son immediately started to cry because he dropped it. Trying to calm my son down, I went about 3 feet away from the broken item to grab a replacement so he knew we were still able to buy it and I heard from behind a fixture a loud huff and a yell of âYOUâRE REALLY GOING TO JUST LEAVE THAT THERE?!â I turned quickly as I thought it was another customer and to my surprise it was an employee speaking to me that way. I couldnât believe it. My son still visibly upset says âIâm sorryâ. The employee walks away to grab a broom as I waited to get his name and position. He responds with Steve and I am the manager. I let him know how unprofessional and embarrassing his interaction with me and my child had been and that I was surely going to let someone know but my child was my first priority. Steve did not apologize but continued with a disgusted look on his face. I left the store very uncomfortable and not really understanding how a man could speak to a woman alone with her child this way and that man being in management. I hope Burlington addresses this situation so something like this does not...
Read moreIt has become a little tradition to take my children here as a treat following a procedure and on the last two occasions I was harassed/scolded by an employee named Stephen I am told is a store manager at the mt Laurel Nj location. The first time I was scolded for opening a lunch box which made my little 6 year old feel like we were doing something wrong. Today I visited again and as we are looking at items on the back wall Stephen appears and scolds me from another isle for allowing my children to touch items and to tell my kids to stop touching things as he referenced a fallen toy bike there. I asked if he was speaking to me as we were never in that isle and it was not my children who knocked it over and he said yes he is talking to me and did not apologize for his error. I informed him this is the second time he has harassed me in this store and it was clear he doesnât recognize me which leads me to believe this happens often with this man. My child became nervous and began picking up items that had fallen around the store because he was afraid of being yelled at again. Stephen has now turned not one, but two, what were supposed to be positive experiences into anxiety inducing ones for small children. I see other reviews referencing Stephen and his racist behavior and it seems it is in fact the case as it appears the other review was not taken seriously and this man is still employed to harass people who are spending their time and money...
