Incompetence is rampant everywhere and Roper is unfortunately no exception. Had my first visit for abdomen/stomach issues and on the same day I had lab work done in the same building. I get the bill for that and they never sent a claim to my ins co, even though they had my information. So, I’m on the damned phone again doing THEIR job. The Dr ordered some other procedures to follow. One was an upper endoscopy. The procedure went very well and the staff was great, however I get the test results back and a note on the results says “The specimen sites were mislabeled in the endoscopy suite prior to receipt in the laboratory.” So, how do I know any diagnosis was actually accurate, or even mine? Next, I was supposed to have a CT scan. They call me to schedule it. I call my ins. co (BCBS) and ask them if it would be covered. They said that it requires a pre-authorization and could take up to 15 days, which the office never sent to them. I called the office back and told them what the ins co said and the woman on the other end tells me they don’t ever have to do pre-auths for CT scans in kind of a snotty tone. I told her that my ins. co said otherwise, so she said she would have her supervisor call me. The supervisor called and apologized and said she’d get right on it. I waited a few days and no calls, nothing. So, I called the ins co again to see if they had received any pre-auths for my CT scan. They said they received something but it was not correct and that I should call the office and have them re-submit it correctly. At this point I said to hell with it and never had the test done. UPDATE JUST NOW: I just received the auth letter from my ins co and they DENIED it, with the following comment: “Your provider did not provide us with clinical office notes or other information to determine the medical appropriateness of the services that you requested. For this reason, the request is not medically necessary and is not approved”. So there you go, more INCOMPETENSE! It seems that every time I go to the Dr for anything, which is rare, I now have to spend MANY HOURS on the phone doing the Drs office job and the health ins job to make sure both ends jive so that I don’t get stuck with the entire bill. This is UNACCEPTABLE! There are a few things that make me absolutely furious, and at the top of the list is HEALTH CARE and HEALTH INSURANCE. Funny, I recently received a letter stating that the Dr (specialist) I saw, is leaving Roper. The address on the letter was jumbled. So I called the Dr office and told them about it and asked if they could correct it. The woman on the other end didn’t act like she cared at all and seemed to have an attitude. Judging by the office staff I encountered in person and on the phone, I can see why he is taking his practice elsewhere. Oh, and my bill for the Upper Endoscopy was over 8k. Why should I even have to pay for “mislabeled” results??!! Not sure I will go back to Roper for anything and will definitely be canceling my follow-up with these people! UPDATE: 2/20/25, I called at least 6 times starting from 1:16pm today and stopped at 4:19pm. I left a message the first call. No one answers, just goes to VM every time. UPDATE: Finally received a call back a couple of days later after I gave up. The woman said that two of her co-workers were out on “medical leave”, figures.. This just matches with rest of the service I have received from Roper. We will see what comes out...
Read moreI had a procedure at the Mount Pleasant hospital .It was a scheduled, non-emergent procedure.
From the minute I walked thru the front door, every employee I came in contact with , was fantastic.
I arrived a bit early in order to complete the necessary paperwork and payment. I had no wait. After I completed the registration, I was taken immediately back for my procedure.
They explained everything prior to doing anything. Made sure I understood everything, before they did the procedure. They were helpful, knowledgeable and kind. They made me feel confident and secure , about the entire procedure
So why did I only give it 3 stars????? I fave them 3 stars for 1 reason.
Prior to the procedure, I was told it was not covered by any insurance. Completely out of pocket. Ok, I understood that and was prepared to pay for it. I called to find out how much I had to pay , prior to the procedure. The price I was previously quoted , was the exact same price registration told me I needed to pay. I paid them in full. I signed for the payment and I thought that would be the end of it.
My issue is due to, what I saw on my bank statement , after the procedure. There was a second , UNAUTHORIZED, charge.
The charge was small amount of money. The problem I have is I NEVER authorized it!! ,it was added in a duplicitous manner.
It was not an additional charge for the procedure. It was an UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE , with no explanation.
There was no mention prior to getting to the hospital. No mention while in registration. I signed for the amount they specified, and nothing more.
I would not have had a problem if they said that the procedure was an additional charge. , a bit more than originally quoted..
However, it was done in a deceptive manner. . I signed and paid the specified amount. Nothing more, just the amount they requested. Adding a charge that I did not authorize is something that upsets me and concerns me.
It’s important to feel you can trust the hospital you have chosen for your care. As I said, every employee I had any contact with was fantastic. Unfortunately, seeing an additional , unauthorized charge from the hospital, makes me question their...
Read moreMy wife was in ER and I was starving, had been there from morning til night. Webite said had cafe with all this glorious food and open until 7:00 pm. After walking (hiking) to the other side of the earth to get there at 5:45 it SAYS CLOSED!!! So the hours are arbitrary and the people that work there decide what they are! Second, why not post a sign in the emergency saying closed before making somebody walk that far!
Then after transferring her to the hospital, with visiting hours till 9pm, when I came back from getting FOOD at 6:45 pm, I walked another country mile to the area that had a gigantic sign and drive up and overhang that said "HOSPITAL MAIN ENTRANCE" but yet all the doors were locked??? Huh? Is the place a freaking prison?
Silly me, I should have known to get to the MAIN hospital with the beautiful entryway and a GIGANTIC sign that says MAIN entrance, I was supposed to go through the emergency room... Another mile back and then another mile down the hallways.
Then to top it all off, 2 security guys came up on me outside and asked If I paid for the brownie I took out of the café!!! One of only a couple items you could pay with touchscreen. Except the screen didn't work and out of frustration I threw the bounty on the counter next to the screen! So not only was the café closed but the couple items that were self serve you couldn't buy! Of course whatever camera they were looking at, they never bothered to look closely they just naturally assumed I stole it!
Wow, man you guys are sharp, you caught somebody stealing a brownie that was never stolen! But I told them where they could find it. Ya know people, BEFORE you accuse somebody of STEALING something, how about you make sure the item was actually stolen before confronting... and whatever you do??? Apologize to that person profusely! All they said was fair enough! Fair enough for WHO? Because there was absolutely nothing fair about...
