I had a wonderful time at crush yard and I think it’s a great concept, however the communication with the team there is very difficult. The first time I went I booked two courts and called to make sure they were next to each other as we were having 16 people (half children) come for a birthday party, and needed a children’s court and adult court each for 2 hours. When I got there, the person who I had spoken to on the phone and confirmed everything with had never made the change and one of our reservations were lost. They didn’t have additional courts available. With one court only for 16 people I asked them to refund the cost of the second court. They repeatedly offered free drinks and free food to make up for the inconvenience but then never followed up , or when I followed up they told me they would come back. I asked for the refund for my 2nd court and was constantly told they would get the manager, when we left they told me they would do it the next day. I have never gotten a refund. Btw one court sat empty while we were there but they told us they had to hold it for walk ins.
Despite this (I chalked it to opening jitters) I was looking for a venue for my husbands birthday for 25-35 people and decided to reach back out about their packages for parties and catering, I was ready to book. Someone responded to my email for a date and time to call. I immediately responded with my phone number saying I’m available all day… crickets… I followed up multiple days and still no response. I even asked if they could just send me packages and we could communicate via email but nothing. I was bummed but I was not willing to do 35 peoples food ala Cart and risk not having courts like last time so started to be concerned if they could handle the party.
Finally I get a call from them a week later, 10 calls about 30 minutes apart on Thanksgiving day. Starting about 1 pm. I didn’t have my phone around so never saw them as I was busy with family and kids, finally my husband sees someone repeatedly calling me and picks up one of the calls and he takes a message that it’s crushyard wanting to know if I’m interested in booking the party, During thanksgiving dinner…. I was in disbelief.
Like I said I think it’s a great concept, but there seems to be no managerial oversight and the staff is extremely young and inexperienced. If you can get a court for a small group you’ll probably have a lovely time. Just not a place for big groups ( or handling refunds)...
Read moreThis was my first-time visiting Crush Yard and I’m a newbie to Pickleball. I had stopped by a few weeks ago to check it out as I was looking for a venue to host an employee appreciation event. We ended up with a group of 50 of our local team members. The sales staff was great to work with in advance and helped us put together a great package for our event. We did hire the local pro to help us get started and that is something I’d recommend. He helped us understand the basics of the game and stayed with us to give us pointers and to supervise the early action on the 4 courts we had reserved for the night. We ordered a basic food package of burger and buffalo chicken sliders with fries and pretzel bites. The food was good enough for what we needed. Wyatt and Juan were great to work with during the event and took great care of us. They have an incredible selection of beers and we utilized the group tab cards to be used at the self-service beer taps. The taps did get a bit foamy from time to time and that led to a good bit of waste and spillage. Perhaps we just didn’t know how to use the taps correctly and it’s easy to rack up a big tab this way so proceed with caution. We had a blast and got more positive feedback on this event than we have in several years on our other activities. I would definitely recommend Crush Yard and I’ll be looking to host another group event there and am likely to visit with a couple buddies to...
Read moreAdding here to reply to Crush Yard: Thanks for asking about lighting suggestions. One 4-foot LED light above each table should be great. I don't mind helping on this. Again thanks for having such a great place for families to have healthy fun!
Below is the initial review: Love this place. My wife and i are avid table tennis (ping pong) players, and finding a place with good tables and environment to play can be challenging. Crush Yard has three tournament level Joola tables. They look like 2" wooden tables, but these are 25mm thick with very good supports including the wooden perimeters. They play like tournament level tables. The nearby railings have netting to keep balls from going too far. These tables are upstairs and have decent space around tables. Lighting is good but could be better. Food is good and reasonably priced. Beers, wines, ciders and mixed drinks are good. Thanks for responding, I suggest adding a 4' long led light over the center of each table. These could have a separate switch in case a particular event prefers a darker setting. Ideally, these additional lights would be higher, above the existing lights. Adding a bit more netting on the side rails would be helpful, we had a couple balls escape, fortunately ping pong balls are light. I'm willing to help install these on our next...
