Fell, injured my ankle, came in here, they xrayed. That's where the help stopped and it got worse. Despite how kind and sympathetic they tried to be, I didn't feel heard. Left with a boot that didn't fit, which I tried to explain. (A boot I twisted my ankle in 3 times before I decided to tear apart old splints and make shift my own.) I've injured my ankles enough times to know, I explained I needed more support. She argued me it would be too stiff. That's the point. To have support when you tear a ligament. While there, my pain was quickly increasing in the boot, which I said and she looked at me like I was crazy, and said the boot doesn't stop pain. I know that, but I shouldn't be worse than when I came in. I needed support, and honestly crutches. I needed to feel heard. I'm tired of being misdiagnosed and not heard, it's leaving lasting injuries. Why is it so hard to find good medical help? Especially when the patient knows their body and needs. How can you be heard? I'm not healing and a specialist is 3 months out. I live on a budget and can't afford a splint that fits. My insurance will cover it if I had a doctor who would...
Read moreThis is a disgusting, inept clinic. My father has gone to UW for over 20 years and this is the first time he’s been mistreated. My very ill but patient father called in this morning to see if he needed to make a reservation for urgent care. They told him to come right in. He did so at noon and they immediately took his vitals and the doctor told him there were a couple of people ahead of him and he should wait in the lobby but that it would be quick. He waited for about 4 hours. I called him and encouraged him to politely talk to the front desk. When he did, one front desk attendants tried to be accommodating but a separate monster at the front desk had the audacity to rudely, abruptly state that he had to wait until 7:15 pm. This time was never communicated to him previously otherwise he would have obviously left and come back. This facility tried to take advantage of an immunocompromised senior citizen who is weak and needs help. No communication and pure disrespect when they watched him wait all those hours. This place is a medical malpractice suit...
Read moreSomehow I decided to take a tumble over the handlebars while riding my skinny tire road bike where only fatter tread should go, and as a result I punched through both sides of my lower lip with my front teeth. My first stop after the accident was UW MLT and they quickly and expertly triaged me, then sent me down to UW NW Emergency where I expected that I would surely have a long wait before I'd be treated.
Fortunately, there weren't too many ahead of (or worse off?) than me, and the excellent MD on duty, Dr Wheat and his friendly ,efficient staff stitched up my lip very nicely and gave me post treatment instructions before they sent me on home. Hooray for UW Medicine!!!
As a post script, the last time I had experience with UW NW Emergency was back in 2019 when my wife badly fractured her wrist and she received the very same type of excellent, caring treatmen, and it's quite heartening to know how fortunate we are to have these critically needed, uber-caring professionals watching out and caring for us so thoroughly....
