Iād like to preface this review with, I was the ONLY one shopping in the store for a minimal timeframe of 45 minutes. So I LOVE altered state, I love the clothes, I love the atmosphere. I LOVE that I can buy a dress and the cutest Bible all in one go. What I donāt love is being treated differently based on how I look. Usually I am dressed in āreal clothesā when I go in. I may or may not be carrying an expensive bag as I am a purse girl, and I get helped right away 10/10 times. Yesterday I had on a white tank top and black leggings with sneakers, and my significant other is very tattooed. As I walked in I made eye contact with who I assume to be the manager, I also made eye contact with a girl hanging clearance. No one offered to help, I did need help, but I wasnāt going to speak to someone who didnāt feel I was worth helping. I got my own fitting room, put back everything I didnāt want and went a second round again getting my own room, putting back what I didnāt want. I was acknowledged my second round of putting the items that didnāt fit back, after about 90 minutes in the store, by the girl who had walked past at least 5 times, this was done by asked if I needed a fitting room. I told her no, I had already finished. I then went to stand in front of the register while two employees discussed an outfit the other HAD to have loosely quoting āno you HAVE to get it, even if it is a size smallā⦠I stood there waiting to check out for for at least 10 minutes and not one person said a thing. When asked if I was helped I was happy to say āno, not a soulā with a smile on my face. I actually put items back that I wanted because it made me feel yucky shopping in there, like I was such a burden being there. I spent my gift card and couldnāt wait to leave. Iāve never left that store feeling so gross and judged. Maybe consider retraining or getting employees who kind of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdit: This originally was a 3 star review, which is now a 1 star review. I reached out to the email and Karlee B replied basically saying she was unaware of my Google review, but she would still like to help me out. Which is odd, because according to the reply, I really thought they wanted to make this right. Wrongā¦but, I digress. So now, Iām reaching out to someone who isnāt even aware of the situation and her only reply is to try to get me to buy their plus size line. I told her that I originally was looking for a dress for our Christmas card photos, which took place this past Sunday and I was no longer in need of one. Once I stated that, she ignored me. Here we are, a week later and still nothing. Hope you all have a different experience than I did.
Iām a little confused by this store. Itās labeled āwomenās clothingā but only goes up to a size large. If thatās the case, I would label my store as a juniors shop. I was here a couple of years ago and saw a couple (emphasis on only A COUPLE) of items that were XL. I went this past weekend and couldnāt find any XL items, so I mentioned it to a few of the employees and nobody was helpful at all. One girl responded to my question about XL clothing with, āWhatever is out on the floor is what we have and itās in size orderā I understand itās not the employeeās fault the sizing is not inclusive, BUT she couldāve been way more helpful. All I wanted to know was if there were any XL items and I just donāt understand why it was so difficult for them to offer any assistance. All they had to do was help me find those XL items or just be honest and say they donāt have any. Instead of finding a solution, I was just offered to start a dressing room. Such a disappointment because I would buy all of their cute clothes if they were...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis was my first time visiting The Avenue location, and it will most certainly be my last. The manager of this location was very unwelcoming and judgmental about my Arula purchase (which was purchased online, but I was wanting to return at this location). I understand that Altarād State only has sizing up to XL, and Arula has extended sizing, but it clearly states on your return policy that returns can be made in-store for either brand. This manager made the biggest deal about my purchase not coming from Altarād State, and how they do not carry the Arula sizing. After debating with her for far too long and some unnecessary comments on her end, she finally took care of my return. However glad I am that I was able to complete this return, the unwelcoming and, quite frankly, size shaming that occurred will result in me never returning to this location. Very disappointing considering Iāve only had wonderful encounters with all of the staff at the Cool...
